This Week's Episode: Gene and cohost Tim Swartz introduce Robert Allred, author of "Military Encounters With UFOs: Explanations and Combat Strategies." So military bodies around our planet have encountered, and even clashed with, UFOs, or as the U.S. military now defines them, Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena – UAP. These observations and engagements have occurred for well over a century, at least, and on all continents. This book takes a no-nonsense approach in its careful research, with hundreds of sources cited, including formerly classified documents and testimony regarding UFOs/UAP. As readers will discover from the mass of evidence presented in this book, it is no longer a question of whether UFOs exist or not. Such phenomena are an incontrovertible fact that, according to Allred, has prompted the United States to craft plans on how to resist an alien invasion. Is there any need for humans to be concerned about the alien presence in the skies surrounding our planet? The author says, essentially, be very concerned. Allred studied at the University of California, Berkeley and undertook a ‘study abroad’ summer session, attending history courses at the University of Sussex while taking in the pastoral landscapes of southern England. He currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, spending his leisure time on his California ranch.
After The Paracast — Available exclusively to Paracast+ subscribers: More revelations about military UFO sightings from Robert Allred, author of "Military Encounters With UFOs: Explanations and Combat Strategies." Speaking with Gene and cohost Tim Swartz, Allred will detail how the UFOnauts will defend themselves against our weaponry should they decide to attack. He'll also detail his personal experiences, which include unknown persistent sounds. UFO abductions will also be covered. In his book, Allred discloses how military bodies around our planet have encountered, and even clashed with, UFOs, or as the U.S. military now defines them, Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena – UAP. Allred states that different nations and cultures have had vastly different interpretations of the UFO/UAP phenomenon – from the Soviet Union and Communist China to the Western democracies. The UFO/UAP phenomenon has not diminished and has instead grown in proportion in recent years. It has now assumed the mantle of legitimacy in many countries: in government circles, the media, among the general public, even in the world’s militaries. What are less well-known, or even concealed, are the encounters our planet’s militaries have had with UFOs – some of which have proved fatal to both sides. A possible example is the 1948 Mantell UFO sighting, where a Kentucky Air National Guard pilot died after chasing a strange object. Despite reports that he was chasing an experimental Skyhook balloon, many researchers remain skeptical of any conventional answer.

Other Tenants in the Building

Legends about a “Hollow Earth” have been around for many decades. One of the more notable entrants into this category was a fantasy novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, best known as the creator of Tarzan.
So in “At the Earth’s Core,” published in 1914, a device known as an “iron mole” is developed to make it easier to penetrate the surface of the Earth. In the first test of the new excavating vehicle, David Innes, the protagonist, encounters a serious problem. The machine can’t be turned, and thus travels 500 below the crust.
The discover that the Earth is hollow, and beneath the surface is another inhabited land, Pellucidar.
The rest of the adventures needn’t be covered. It was typical adventure fare for Burroughs, where the handsome hero encounters a beautiful damsel in distress and rescues her. He might have changed the character names and locations, but used the same gimmick time and time again.
Now Burroughs was known to introduce his novels with a framing sequence where, in “At the Earth’s Core,” the legends of Hollow Earth lore were cited.
Rest assured, I am not going to propound a case for the Hollow Earth. By and large it’s nonsense, yet the possibility that there are inhabited parts of the world hidden to us seems a little more plausible.
Most of you recall the saga of one Richard S. Shaver, who claimed to have spent years in caverns within the Earth, where two races, one evil (the deros) and one good (the teros) resided. In a short novel called “I Remember Lemuria,” Shaver (with the intervention of Amazing Stories editor Ray Palmer) told the story of an advanced civilization that existed thousands of years ago.
When the sun began to throw off harmful rays, most of the inhabits left. Those who remained — or were abandoned — retreated to the caverns. According to Shaver, the deros were contaminated by the harmful radiation and thus became violent brutes intent on causing mischief to surface people. The teros escaped such nasty consequences.
Now Palmer was a master at exploiting the content of his publications to the max. While Shaver’s first story was presented as fiction, it still attracted tens of thousands of followers, many of whom maintained it was true.
In response, Palmer said that, yes, Shaver claimed to have had genuine experiences in the caverns. That first novel was fictionalized from Shaver’s original story, “A Warning to Future Man.”
For the few years that Shaver material filled the pages of Amazing Stories, circulation went up tremendously. It was also highly controversial, as traditional sci-fi fans went ballistic. In the end, the Shaver Mystery was given the heave-ho, after which the magazine’s circulation dropped to its normal level.
Palmer continued to tout Shaver in his own magazines, starting with FATE, first established in 1948. He also touted the Hollow Earth myth in such publications as Flying Saucers. In one issue, he ran a weather photo allegedly depicting a Hole at the Pole, the presumed entrance to the inner Earth. The effects shown proved nothing of the sort.
In the end, Palmer said that he believed Shaver and others had genuine encounters, but they occurred on another plane of existence, the astral. It’s similar in concept to the theories of the multiverse. Different universes exist in the same place, but on different vibratory rates. Regardless of how it’s framed, the explanations about the forces that keep these universes apart are dense with unproven theories.
Shaver maintained till his dying day, more or less, that he had physical encounters in the caves.
He wasn’t the only one who maintained that there existed another civilization that coexisted with ours.
In our recent “Voices of the Past #2” episode of After The Paracast (available exclusively to subscribers of The Paracast+ at www.theparacast.plus), we played an old audio segment about someone having experiences similar to Shaver’s. The story was related by a paranormal researcher, John J. Robinson, who told of the fate of a friend of his, one Steve Brodie. A one-time neighbor of Jack’s, Brodie, described as an artist, revealed his own encounters with deros when he saw Jack carrying a copy of Amazing Stories with Shaver material. This all occurred in the 1940s.
Theories about a parallel civilization have persisted. Listeners to The Paracast have heard such guests as Richard Dolan and Mac Tonnies speaking on the topic.
Indeed, Mac wrote a fascinating 128-page concept of a book, “The Cryptoterrestrials: A Meditation on Indigenous Humanoids and the Aliens Among Us” before his untimely death in 2009. I refer to it as a “concept of a book,” because he didn’t fully flesh out his material.
That takes us to an interesting new twist on the theory that there is a parallel or breakaway civilization on our planet. Two Harvard researchers, Tim Lomas and Brendan Case, working with Professor Michael Masters of Montana Technological University, released a paper in 2024 propounding the possibility that there is a “concealed Earthly explanation” for the UAP mystery.
Such an origin might place them under the Earth’s surface, within the oceans, or on the far side of the Moon. If they are human or similar to humans, they may be “walking among us” even now. But I am not about to suggest that I’ve run into anybody who is from somewhere else.
Contrast that to the theory from Dr. David Jacobs and others that human/alien hybrids are passing as human. And that their intentions towards us may not be exactly peaceful.
But how would you tell?
In contrast, one of the contributors to that study from the Harvard researchers, Dr. Masters, says that the UFOnauts are really humans from our future. The grays? Perhaps an evolutionary development.
But what about the so-called “grandfather paradox” in time travel? If someone travels to the past and changes even a very tiny thing, it could cause drastic changes for the future. People might even cease to exist and events might seriously change in other ways.
But Dr. Masters suggests that there is no such paradox. So does that change trigger the creation of a different universe or dimension? Is it all just meant to be?
Even if the UFOs are piloted by extraterrestrials, that doesn’t mean they haven’t set up a separate base of operations that we might interpret as a parallel civilization on planet Earth. Regardless of their possible origin, they might indeed by very concerned on how humans have despoiled our planet.
On the other hand, if they possess a superior civilization, surely they would have acted by now to protect themselves and stop us cold. It doesn’t jibe with the utterly feckless behavior of the alleged higher beings or ETs that have reportedly contacted Earth people.
