We sometimes like to judge shows around here based on whether or not we would use them as a tool to convince someone that just refuses to accept the reality of the UAV phenomenon.

Well based on that criteria, this show is easily the best Paracast yet.

And if anyone didnt get why I posted those pics in the OP, it was just to highlight how crazy it is how diverse the types people are that play in this sandbox. And how stupid it is to spend any time on someone when there are others out there that just dwarf them in every respect.

Great show guys! His answer in the first two minutes was perfect!!

Kudos to the Paracast for raising the bar with another top-notch guest.

Mind blowing show !!!

AFB in Illinois doesn't respond to NARCAP inquiry about the O'hare incident. Silence speaks volumes !

UAP acronym is a nice attempt at hacking the coverup and it surely did help get extra survey data. Unfortunately, it still doesn't open military doors.

Where's the Obama openeness in an age where the British, French, Canadian etc. MOD's are releasing classified documentation. Look's like its going to take a while before the Bush police state is dismantled.

As I pointed out when I was on the final panel at the 2007 X-Conference (much to the chagrin of some of the other panelists), the United States was the first country to engage in disclosure, when it released all of the Project Blue Book files decades ago. Many of those cases have still not been properly investigated, and some have already yielded outstanding cases, like the previously unknown Santa Barbara Channel case involving Kelly Johnson in 1953. Thus, it's not quite accurate to say that the United States has never engaged in disclosure - arguably, it's disclosure years ago of the Blue Book files was as fulsome as anything that we've seen with the MoD in the UK or the Canadian government.

Perhaps, revisiting those cases using the eyes of current technology, methodology and proper scientific approach (and attitude) would produce an honest outcome. Its time for Blue Book 2 ;)

McDonald inadvertently played a major role in the controversy regarding the Condon Committee when one of the committee's investigators - who disagreed with Condon's attitudes - privately gave him a copy of the so-called "Trick Memo". The memorandum, which was written by Condon's chief assistant Dr. Robert Low, outlined how the Committee could reach a predetermined conclusion that all UFO cases were explainable in mundane terms, while simultaneously appearing neutral during the actual investigation process. To many UFO investigators, including McDonald, the "Trick Memo" seemed to confirm their worst fears about the Condon Committee's bias regarding the UFO phenomenon. Following McDonald's release to the public of the now-infamous "Trick Memo", Project Chair Edward Condon tried unsuccessfully to get McDonald fired from his tenured faculty position at the University of Arizona.

I've still got 30 minutes to go, but what a great episode!

Regarding sightings being more common in July, both in the Northern and Southern hemispheres: In the month of July, the Earth is further from the sun than it is at any other point in its orbit. I wonder if this could have anything to do with it.

I just thought i'd drop by again to say what an excellent episode this was.... truly compelling. The paracast took a little bit of stick about 6 months ago from a few people saying it had gone stale and there weren't any decent guests coming on.... well since then we have had some amazing episodes with the likes of James Fox, Jerome Clark and basically all the great ones recently.

When this show stays slightly more to the conservative side.... i think it is truly one of a kind and you won't find better discussion the topic.

Great effort guys, please give us more of the same, i can't tell you how much i look forward to waking up on a monday and hearing the new episode every week.

I dont see why everyone gets so excited about those other country's release of UFO reports. Sure you might get some fascinating reports from time to time, and this may even make its way into the news cycle, but we all know that they arent really admitting to, or acknowledging, anything.

These are reports from the general public that have no bearing on an official interest. And on top of that its extremely probably that some of the most interesting reports are not even being released.

So even if the States did start releasing public reports from the last 30yrs, I dont think that would amount to much of anything at all.

Excellent episode; graphically demonstrates why the Paracast is so sorely needed in this field. Kudos, gentlemen.

Dr Haines has investigated UFO cases for many years, he had participated in the 1997 Sturrock Panel (funded by Rockefeller) initiative etc

I had mixed feelings about this show.

On one hand, I am most interested in the topic of pilot sightings, which Dr Haines has specialized in for a long time (his older "Pilot UFO sightings" documentary is among my favorites). From this Paracast episode, the part most interesting to me were his anecdotes (around 1:10) about cases where UFOs are fired at and reportedly the UFO changing from orange-red to bright bluish-white etc, because they tie into theories such as those proposed by Hill, other cases I've heard and stuff I'm researching.

On the other hand, in several occasions I couldn't help getting this sinking feeling, that UFO research is an exercise in futility.

Sometimes I ask myself just how long you can keep a show like this up and they go and bowl 2 perfect games in a row!
This has been some really good broadcasting.

I think the Paracast is on a roll with several excellent shows in a row. I know several weeks ago they were plagued by a couple of dogs in a row and everyone got severely bummed. This goes to show you that you should keep a long term perspective and not go gagga-crazy because a couple of guests were less than stellar. Just be patient. The quality will assert itself if you give it a chance.

Thanks to all for the kind words about this episode - meanwhile, has no one noticed... I mean, am I the only one who seemed to notice, um...

Hmmmmm....

Anyway, next week's show will be, well, a little different than the last few. I hope it's not the big let down for everyone.

Sigh.

And then we have Paul & Holly, and that one's a keeper.

Just found out today that we'll be filming an episode for the ghost series on the 19th, at the same time the Paracast episode airs. Synchronicity...

As for Haines, good stuff indeed. Brad Sparks has always spoken highly of him, and I can see why. I can't think of another program that has had Haines, Jerry Clark and Jacques Vallee on, along with the missile base guys and plenty of Mac Tonnies. Huzzah!

And, of course, Bassett et al for the comedic relief! :)
