August 9th Show - Ecker and the hosts

Free episodes:

Only just heard this weeks show and I thoroughly enjoyed it,

Well done Don Ecker you did a grand job, I like your style. Gonna listen all over again now.
Shame my pc dosen't seem to want to play your Dark Matters show.
Hope you do it again.

Thanks,

Mark

That was fun show, made me LOL a few times.. David has such potty mouth  (j/k) I liked the Benzine Man joke, that was a good one Gene :D

Maybe something like a monthly round-up with Don to talk about the months interviews would be cool. It would be a good way to incorporate those post-interview discussions Gene & David used to have.

Thank you Mark..

Now, what do you mean your PC doesn't want to play my shows? They are all in MP3 format. What flavor is your PC? OS and so on, sounds like a glitch that could be fixed.

Very enjoyable episode. I think it would be a good idea to repeat this setup now and then. Good chance to reflect on the overall conversation.

I hope some day DB decides to explain the experiences he alluded to in this interview. With the things he said it wasn't, what it was has got to be intense!

The way you are posting now is reminiscent of Korffs ramblings, and thats why i made the comment earlier

It would be pretty hard to top that guy.

As everyone knows, he's recognized for airing his dirty laundry in video format rather than in the usual ways the Internet provides. I only just recently watched his #27 where he holds up a little purple contest ribbon that he cites as evidence he received an award for designing a nuclear warhead (I guess some schools give ribbons for that). He was considerate enough to offer to make the little ribbon available for forensic testing. Testing for what? Plutonium?

Watching these videos and seeing the fear and psychosis in his eyes and hearing the tremble in his voice makes one realize what a truly haunted little world he lives in.

Great program! It felt a little awkward at first, but then it really took off. I think the thing I appreciate most about Gene, Don, and Dave is that they are the first to admit that they do NOT know what is going on out there, and that they find the whole subject area just as confounding as anybody else does. They are real, and that in itself is very reassuring.

I was especially drawn in by the brief discussion of Corso, and it was good to hear Dave (the other guys may have said this, too) say that he's still on the fence about Corso's story. Talk about one man who will always truly be an enigma!

It was at that point in the show that I thought a future program like this would be very informative if the hosts just open up and talk about their take on a selected group of paranormal stories, claims, etc., sort of like what they did with Corso. I really enjoy listening to the early Paracasts where Gene and Dave reserve the last 10 minutes or so to digest what a guest just said. I know lots of folks griped about that, but I think it's good for newbies like me to hear two men who didn't just fall off the turnip truck give a snap analysis every now and then.

Anyway, keep up the great work, fellas! I look forward to learning more next week!

I agree with Don here Mark... that sounds like a very strange problem. After all, the files are just mp3s.

How do you listen to the Paracast?

The highest praise I can give to this episode is that it seemed to last about fifteen minutes. Thank you.

While I don't usually dig the "roundtable" shows much anymore, this one was nice. Don Ecker never misses a beat, and obviously David is never at a loss for words :p, so it was easy to stay engaged (ADD? me? possibly).

I confess to being kinda lazy and not having an active interest in ufology enough to keep myself informed on all the names out there, and with the Paracast I almost feel like I don't have to! You can learn a lot right here.

Really enjoyed this one. Dare I say in some recent episodes, I feel like we have been getting bogged down in semantics to an extent, so it was a nice change of pace to have a discussion on the subject from an overall perspective.

The one thing that David mentioned the really struck a chord with me was about the reverse engineering of technology. I can only speak for myself (though I’m sure many others working in technological industries would probably agree), the idea of reverse engineering such things as microprocessors etc is obnoxious and insulting.

Personally I think these achievement deniers are merely projecting their own failings on other people. Sadly a lot of folks seem content with forming a view of life via a sound bite mosaic, whereby the act of 'collating' and summarising information (so they themselves don’t have to) is given more importance than the quality of information itself.

So all i can say is keep up with the zero tolerance approach, a single word of truth is more important than all of the voluminous encyclopaedias of bullshit put together!

There's a pretty big difference between being interested in a topic, and devoting one's life to it. Obviously, anyone with any kind of sense of curiosity should find any of these paranormal topics interesting. But to dive into it and call oneself an expert - such as Payola Harris - or a lobbyist - Bassett - without ever even having the experience, yes, I do indeed question why someone would be motivated to get into it to that extent.

I don't think I'm part of any "private club", I'm extremely aware of the fact that LOTS of people have had this experience, and I'll say this again: if I could live my life without ever having had ANY of these experiences, I'd gladly do so and trade the mystery for some nice, quiet stability. I suspect that there are lots of other experiencers who share my sentiments.

And believe me, I've asked Gene about this, as he's never seen a UFO, but has had a lifelong interest in the topic. Meanwhile, like myself, his primary professional life is devoted to technology, so it's not like this material is the sole focus of his life. So while I understand that you're going to lengths to criticize me on these forums, try to deploy some logic when doing so. And feel free to get shitfaced, but please promise not to drive after listening to the show. :D

I really enjoyed the show and the honest discussion that took place. And thank you especially David for talking a little about your experiences, feel Im getting to know you guys a lot better and even though I dont really 'know' you, I feel your honesty makes you very credible indeed. I share your thoughts around the whole topic and am so very glad you show up the B.shitters. It amusing to hear them tie themselves up in knots!

I heard someone, I cannot remember who, put it very well once. Imagine jumping into a time machine heading for 1492. Find Christopher Columbus, give him a broken nuclear submarine, tell him to reverse engineer and use it for his transatlantic voyage. Could he do it? No way.

I liked this show a lot. I found Mr. Ecker's interview style to be excellent. He's got a compelling "radio voice". I'll also start listening to Dark Matters Radio.

It's funny. You find out about these great shows in such strange and mysterious ways. I found out about The Paracast while chatting in the #UFO channel on irc (Undernet) way back in early 2007. Now I'm discovering Mr. Ecker's podcast through this one. I also enjoy listening to Paratopia, another Paracast ("spin-off?"). They've all got something to offer.

Anyway, Don Ecker took great care of the boys. In the beginning I thought they were going to tear off like a couple of dogs off the leash, but Don quickly rounded them up and got some good stuff out of them. I'm also really glad David pushed for an explicit allowance. It's real. No bullshit. Say what you gotta say. I'm a big cuss fan, when the time is right. It's like my dad used to say, some people can get away with it. David sure can. LOL. The guy is fuckin awesome, let's face it. Gene, too. Great voices, intelligent. We got it made with these dudes.

Onwards and upwards. Great show, guys! Stay true to yourselves.

Thanks to all for such nice comments, I kinda thought folks were sick and tired hearing my opinions about this stuff. I realize I'm often repeating myself, or so it seems. You're all very kind. Well, most of you, at least. :)

Come on David, you know we are all just on the edge of our seats waiting for the day you have a 'Mad as hell' ala 'network' moment :D

Seriously though, for anyone who roles their eyes at shows like ufo hunters and their 'saucer people with the help of the reverse vampires' explaination for everything - listening to the paracast is as much a soul cleansing experience as it is a welcome road sign to sanity.

Sorry mate, i had my tongue firmly placed in my cheek on that one ;) I was paraphrasing from a conspiracy episode of the simpsons, thought there are many similarities between the two shows, one is obviously a lot more believable
