Was anybody Following this story. Barack Obama won the Iowa caucus, beating Hillary in a 95% white state. Does this mean anything? is America ready for change? Most of all can he beat Hillary for the democratic nomination and win the General Election to become the first Black President?

Well, I don't have a crystal ball (actually, I do, but it's broken --- keeps yammering about 2012, I ignore it) but I still think Hillary will get the Democratic nomination. I won't bother to change this prognostication until she loses some NE state.

My guess is a Clinton-Edwards ticket.

I think that's what the Republicans are hoping for, as Hillary will be easy to run against with all of her historical baggage.

These are just my guesses for fun.

"is America ready for change?"
I don't want to overstate this because I think Obama is a huge change (for the better) compared to Bush or Clinton but the fact is, Obama supported a recent trade agreement with Peru that a number of labor and environmental groups opposed. Obama and Clinton sided with Bush and his corporate pals. I guess a million jobs lost to NAFTA wasn't enough for them. Sometimes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Obama talks a good game, but I think he is essentially a moderate who is most interested in maintaining the status quo (and at this point, with the problems this country is facing, I think maintaining the status quo and siding with big business is a huge mistake)- still would be a major improvement over Bush though.

obama is more white than black but plays his black card well.
obama is CFR/NWO as well.
we are screwed, who ever wins, we lose.
"they" have both sides in their pocket just like the bush/kerry ticket.
even if a write-in actually wins, we will never know. it is proven the voting boxes can be manipulated remotely.

I have serious doubts regarding Mr. O'bama's (he's actually Irish, Like Bill Blowreilly, Rosie Blowdonnel, and Conan Blowbrian) status as a reformer with new ideas. He strikes me as just another ambitious politician peddling his own brand of snake oil.
And what moron amongst his handlers came up with that fainting woman kabuki show that was running a few weeks back? The man is just so overwhelmingly charismatic that the weaker sex is simply overcome by his presence and swoons at the sound of his voice. Give me a break. If that jug eared scarecrow is supposed to be the current model of manly sex appeal, then I'm going to start renting out frogs as male hookers to lonely widows.

If Barack gets the nomination, America's standing internationally will go up 1000%. Doubly so if he becomes president. Hillary not so much but the relief at the end of the Bush regime will be palpable. God help us all if McCain gets in...

God help us if Obama or Hillary gets in. I'l take McCain over them any day, as much as I dislike McCain. Being voted most popular by the rest of the world is not high on my list of important voting decisions.

Obama is just another politician. In fact not even a very interesting one. Blimey, even Ron Paul was more exciting than Obama (oh and Mr Paul ... what happened to all that lovely money you raised????).

Anyway Obama is funded and managed by a lot of shady people including Soros and Zbigniew Brzezinski ... so he's a puppet ... just a not very interesting one :D.

According to Michael Collins Piper ... who is pretty much on the money with things in my opinion ... the Democrats will actually go for Al Gore, with the Republicans having the super-scary choice of McCain and Joe Lieberman (shivers down the spine) as running mate.

That is of course if there is an election in 2008  :D.

You've just got to remember that all of the candidates, of any colour or religious persuasion, are bought and paid for by the people who really run the US ... no exceptions.

Too bad he has been attending a church for the last 20 years where the minister is clearly a racist (and worse) . Either Obama believes the nonsensical swill that Rev. Wright vomits up, or he is too weak to speak out against such racist bullshit.

Rev. Wright coming out for Sen. Obama is the equivalent of David Duke (ex. Grand Imperial Wizard of the KKK) coming out in favor of Sen. Hillary Clinton.

My guess is Hillary would say, "David Duke sucks great big green donkey dicks and I want nothing to do with him"....We're still waiting for a proper response Mr. Obama.

Into his pockets of course, he is after all a Libertarian (Motto: I got mine, so SCREW YOU!)

You americans and your system perplex me... you have politicians whom you pay for with your taxes who never-the-less parade around the country at election time essentially pan-handing so they can run expensive campaigns, the majority of which will end in defeat, thus wasting the money.

That's not really the libertarian philosophy at all.

"I will be responsible to myself first and foremost and you do the same" or "I was not put on this Earth for the government to force me to support you" is more like it.

Most libertarian minded people I know are not against charity per se, as long as that charity is voluntary. Forced charity via taxation and income redistribution is the enemy, as is shitty social engineering mentalities like socialism and communism.

I myself give money to the ASPCA, but never to human causes. The government already takes too much of my income for those purposes.

Yea, but to the guy who wins, it's all worth it. Typically, everyone who runs thinks they have a chance or winning or else they wouldn't go through the ordeal.

True but not really relevant to my point, namely that you're already paying for their fat-ass salaries with your taxes. If they wanna run, they should do it on their own dime.

Oh please.. communism sucks ass for a variety of reasons and everyone knows it. That's why you don't see any prosperous and free communist countries. Why would you even remotely try and defend it?

No one in their right mind would ever want to live in a communist country. You don't exactly see people risking life and limb to flee to Russia or Cuba. Or perhaps Russia, China, and Cuba were just "doing it wrong" ?

European Socialism is a more complicated issue, but again, I'll stay here, enjoying life, in horrible facist evil Nazi capitalist pig America and you can continue feeling smug in whatever country you happen to be from.

Then wouldn't that mean that only the richest people can and will run? More money = more influence via the media. Mega rich candidates already have a huge advantage. Preventing others from using taxpayer money would handicap them even more.

Guys like Obama, who is not super rich, have shown that if people like what someone says enough, they will rise to the top regardless.

Am I the only one here who feels dirty after reading about American politics?

Is this life or a nightmare?

I am hate.

Why just American politics? Is it more pure and touchy feely in your country?

Yea politics - in every country- is a dirty business, but I'm not sure how you get around it. It's as old as human civilization, and not about to get any cleaner.
