How funny! Are they working animals?

I had a border-collie/coyote rescue and she was preternaturally attuned to me . . . so if I walked into a room and forgot why I came in, I'd look down at whatever she was looking at and remember what I was there for! She knew even before I did . . .
They're not true working farm dogs, I live in a forest area and take them with me everyday, both for exercise and I keep an eye on them to alert me of predators around. But most often they ditch me and head off to the creek! What's so border- like is the first cup of coffee and 4 eyes watching every step I make. If I reach for my boots they go nuts , car keys, getting dressed, they do the hallway run. They bark at the car like it was a giant sheep, hunch down in the field before going long on a run with each other. Very loyal and loving dogs.

Finally heard the interview in it's entirety - was a good listen, nice work. Kind of surprised that you guys didn't grill him when he got metaphysical.

And, having nothing better to do, I had a look at the posting history of zorthron. Most of his posts appear to be designed to start an argument, or a debate over irrelevant issues, after which he vanishes and watches the byplay, no doubt. All right, so he wishes it was 2009 and our original co-host was here. Time marches on, and, having better things to do with my time than respond to nonsense, I have removed zorthron's right to post in our forums until he learns how to be constructive.

Well as long as he can still read posts I understand a lot of slots opened up @ bellgab.com maybe he should go hang there.

It is clear we have had a major effect on the evolution of canines... but consider this- are we not unchanged ourselves? The early humans who (inexplicably!) could bond with a canine had an evolutionary advantage over those who didn't, and had to defend themselves 24/7. The more canines became dogs, the better off and more likely to be bonded to a human they were. I have to wonder if a great deal of our ability towards tolerance and kindness, came from this bond- so in civilizing wild dogs, we became (somewhat) less wild ourselves. I have always had a strong bond with dogs, to the point that people getting dogs for the first time have been steered in my direction for advice. I can usually tell what is going on with a dog, even from a photo. For example, I can tell at a glance that "Teddy Bear" needs his nose beeped... Please do so at the earliest opportunity!

Is the canine/feline discussion an indicator of what resonated for everyone the most? I had one cat that was telepathic and he made for a great personal therapist unil I donated him, and the severe allergic reactions he was giving to my partner, all to my grandparents. When I visited him the following Xmas he acted like he didn't know me. I was crushed. My current dog greets me with an abundance of emotion if we are apart for more than a day. Pets are curious events, less than people, yet such easy sources of robust emotion. It probably all has to do with a lack of a shared language.

As for Steiger I did not get clarity on his position - perhaps you need to buy the book to get closer to his vision? I've heard most, if not all, of his Paracast appearances and there is a large collection of odd stories that he tells with an easy grace and honest wonder. He's one of the best spinners of paranormal anecdotes, but I was looking to better understand his positioning of the 'other'. My understanding of that term is that otherness is a consequence of our own narcissism and ego that can not include the identity and experience of she who is different, because of our limited primary experiences and narrow socialization process. We define and create the other because of our 'Us'ness.

So if the paranormal is here to teach us to be more open minded, equitable and accepting, so we can improve the overall quality and peacefullness of our species, then bring on Bigfoot in a spaceship feeding Symington pancakes to slender man and his pet loch ness monster. Maybe we also need to do away with the limits of language to take more value from the experience.

Agree. Love Brad. But I'm finding Gene's nonstop bad/corny/grasping for Hollywood to notice him references to tv shows and movies beyond grating. It's your show, so do what you want. But two of my friends stopped listening because the "older than the Temple on the Mount" and non-stop references to money (e.g., the Twitter IPO). A well run show moves quickly and concisely, which is why I still think that George Knapp is head and shoulders above anyone in the field. Chris, you're better, but your questions can be verbose and overly complicated. Get to the point. Get out. This is an area where my friends and I really miss David. Okay. Still like the show, but finding myself drifting away, especially since the guests seem to be on the same radio/podcast circuit. That said, thanks for providing a free show. It's a huge amount of work, and I respect that.

Where the heck is the facepalm when you need it??? Gene and Cris are the two most intelligent and EXPERIENCED media individuals in the entirety of paranormal radio. I LOVE it when Gene really digs in. He knows how to cultivate and harvest info from guests. I've listened to the technique MANY times on the Paracast. I have never even heard Chris state anything as being unclear, or even remotely over complex. He does use typical insider speak because he is REAL and is genuine to the umpth degree, but apart from that which 90% of us are, the man is lucid as night/day. I really like George Knapp. Always enjoy him, but not one bit more so than Gene or Chris.

Bottom line here: There is just nothing real here in terms of this post's cited observations. Bogus intel.

I'd really like to know if this "fireflies" apparition that would turn up night after night ever was documented on video or film. I mean, if the police were involved, surely they at least would think of bringing a camera? I'm not trying to debunk anything, just very curious. Has anyone ever heard of the case before?

Great show by the way, Mr Steiger is always a delight to listen to, although I seldomly stopped scratching my head over the things he says he's experienced himself.

Exactly. It's the frustration that us phenomenal fanatics face most frequently. Say that last sentence 5 times as fast as possible please. ;) It's like we are constantly wanting to reach over and gently make the obvious gesture that we are knocking on the investigative guy's head next to us, "hello, is thing on?" I think the same exact thing with respect to the abduction phenomena. How many opportunities have these "investigators" thrown away in which they could have substantiated the phenomenon via undeniable documentation? And they wonder why so few consider their efforts as being those of legitimate and key researchers? Mind blowing.

The guru thing started to make me wonder if he was going to go the way of Greer or Meier or something, but then again, in a casual sense, Steiger is a guru in the field of the paranormal, and if I had had as many experiences as he has had, I might start to wonder if I'd been chosen for some special purpose too. I want to believe Steiger, I really do, but after a while it get's so incredible that I start to wonder how much is Brad Steiger and how much is B.S. I know that sounds harsh, but with all the experiences I've heard him tell over the years, one would think there should be a few decent photos or videos or real evidence? But I don't see any. Or if there is, where is it?

Call me gullible, but I'm actually willing to accept an answer like "if you try to document it, the phenomenon won't turn up at all". Or, as Lloyd Auerbach puts it "if you want the activity to stop, bring a researcher". I do entertain the possibility that there might be something intelligent behind it which just doesn't want to be documented and thus actively tries to avoid it. But if there were botched attempts to film it (power failures, unusable or unclear footage), I'd like to hear about that, too.
