What in the pan-fried hell? I though Bell had some sense. Holy shit. Guess I won't bother listening to his new show.

What a silly bastard Greer is. He should be locked up with Kal Korff so they could BS each other till one of them drowned in it.

No one every gave Ingo Swann a damn good kicking when he wrote Penetration, and that covered some very similar territory to the techniques Steven Greer was (still is?) advocating. I'm guessing because Swann was low-profile and didn't try to expose classified programs and encourage whistleblowing, he was left alone.

I still wonder whether much of the vitriol against him was started by the very people he was trying to expose? After all, no one kicks a dead dog. Maybe he should have named names early on instead of trying to court favour with the control group and pleading for sanity and rational thought on their part. It was rather naive to think that they would co-operate although I don't blame him for trying. I suspect that they told him, "Yeah we want this out but just hold your fire for 18 months and we'll work with you". Not going to happen. Maybe in 200 years time, our descendents will find out that many agencies of the US government and armed forces have counterintelligence files on him. Anyway, thats my two very cynical and highly speculative cents.

From what I can make of Swann, he certainly didn't court the limelight and he most definitely did not milk financially his experiences to anywhere near the degree possible and certainly not in the way I imagine Greer would, had he had those experiences.
I've got in trouble in this forum, allowing my dislike of Greer to get the better of my good judgement in what is/is not acceptable to post in a public forum. I'd love to say that I had seen Greer for what he is way back when and that I always knew he was to a degree a charlatan. I say 'to a degree' because like many others, I did agree that his disclosure project efforts were indeed worthy. It's just that virtually everything he has done since has irked me no end.
I started to get a bad feeling about the guy when I started watching videos of him on youtube from various presentations he had given over the years. As our own Chris O'Brien has recounted telling Greer, 'Your message is more important than you are, ' or words to that effect and I think that sums the guy up perfectly. He desperately wants to be the centre of attention, he has practically self-appointed himself as not only some kind of pseudo-'galactic ambassador' but the guy who instructs others in how to fulfill such a role! I mean the hubris of this guy knows no bounds!

And this 'Commander' thing? As a former member of the military it makes me sick for him to steal what is most certainly a military rank, and not one that is handed out to any tom, dick or harry. How dare he. How dare he.
I'll stop now before I say something I regret!

If you thought Art Bell was going to do something new and innovative, here is your answer. Having Dr. Greer on first thing proves it will be more of the same old same old from Art. Look for Dr. Doom(Ed Dames) in short order plus anyone else who wants to get their two cents worth in. I foresee many of the same guests that appear on C2C to be on very shortly.

Yes I agree that his message is far more important than he is. I've never met him but he comes across as very very arrogant. He also used to give them impression that he was in possession of unique or almost supernatural knowledge and powers in attracting UFOs, which struck me as incredibly pompous and borderline delusional.

He's never really explained why the Disclosure Project was discarded rapidly in favour of developing a free energy device which, quelle surprise, never materialised. Did one even exist? What strikes me about him, and he is not unique in this respect, is the lack of accountability to his peers and supporters. What I mean by that is the apparently ability to morph himself from a "secret UFO project discloser" into a "new energy developer" and back again to UFOs with his film...with little or no questioning. I think this speaks to what I've said before about the inability of ufology to regulate itself as would a academic research institution and filter out and effectively marginalise/discredit the scam merchants. My conclusion is that somewhere along the line, he derailed and lost sight of the real big picture.

I'm not sure what you're referring to by "Commander" - has he given himself this title?

Read this by French physicist, Jean Pierre Petit, regarding his attempt to contact Steven Greer and his theory about the true purpose of the Disclosure Project:

I have a doubt about the Disclosure project

"What is exactly Disclosure ?

If the fabulous invention mentioned by Dr Greer is nothing but a hoax all the project will collapse. But wasn't be planed ?

An hypothesis :

1 - Greer presents his claims in his website. He affirms his intention to fight with courage against authorities, in order to reveal truth.
2 - His efforts begins to look like a simple marketing operation.
3 - Then Greer searches "new energies"
4 - He finds rapidly a fabulous invention, converting vacuum energy into enectricity. The inventor is not a physicist but "a man who has a good feeling about electromagnetism".
5 - The invention turns to be a hoax.
6 - Greer is disqualified.
7 - Later, when another effort will be done in order to fight against cover-up policy people will say "same stuff. The things will turn like in Greer's story".

To sum up : is Disclosure a disinformation operation ?"

I'd say Dr Petit was pretty accurate in his assessment.

Greer's "message" is very simple. Nearly all of Greer's activities operate around the message of "show me the money" he charges big bucks for going to his gatherings and other activities.

I think this is the way his cult should be spelled C$ETI. Let's face reality here, Greer's followers are people who are NOT well informed about the UFO phenomenon, and many of them have become manipulated by cultists like Greer and some of them don't even realize that they are being "used" by Greer's worthless claptrap claims. It is a sad state of affairs when people get taken advantage of, by people like Greer who are only concerned about the almighty dollar. By the way the objective of ALL cults is to make money for the benefit of the cult leader. In the 1994 Outside Magazine expose of Greer, the article stated that lifetime C$ETI dues were $10,000! I checked the C$ETI website and it claims that they are not charging dues at this time, but I still advise people with a UFO interest to stay away from all UFO cults.

Just listened to Greer on Art Bells new show...wow...same old stuff..blah blah blah, I was a country doctor ...I met Colonel Woolsey ...blah blah ..yawn . I think Art's producers ( if he has any ) are telling him, make sure to get all your most delusional bullshit-monger guests on in the opening week ! Hence..Arts old pal Hoagie coming up..and what's the betting he'll have some very special things to reveal..sigh

Sorry for the delay in replying, I am still away but hooked up to the wireless in a hotel.

I read the references you gave me and I can see your point, but I still think she is doing a good job getting the message out. She uses the terminology people want to hear for each situation and there is no way she would be in the bestseller list if her book had been called "UAP's: Generals....". I have adopted your terminology and I have to explain it every time I use it :)

Anyway, back to kicking Dr Greer...

Art Bell's new show is the same ol' stuff as C2C. Dunno why he thinks that he's so different than them.

I hope you get room service and your bed made up free on a daily basis.

Too bad part of that message is that UFOs ( alien craft ) is a subject that only tin foil hat wearing reptilian conspiracy theorists believe in.
She uses the terminology people want to hear for each situation and there is no way she would be in the bestseller list if her book had been called "UAP's: Generals....".
Which makes her both inaccurate and hypocritical on this particular issue. But you're also right that apart from this particular issue, she's done a really good job of presenting the evidence. And I'm certainly not going to bash her over it 'till the end of days. I like Kean, I own her book, and I honestly just don't think she really thought it through, and therefore it's nothing malicious. I just hope that someday she makes a definitive turn around and endorses responsible ufology instead of marginalizing it.
I have adopted your terminology and I have to explain it every time I use it :)
Fantastic! I wish I could give you a dollar for every time. Come to think of it, I wish I could get a dollar for every time too .
Anyway, back to kicking Dr Greer...
I was tempted to say: "Dr. who?"
But then you'd have to say: "No, not Dr. Who ... Dr. Greer!"
And then I'd have to say: Who?
And you'd say: No Greer!
And then I'd have to agree: No Greer!
And then we could both chant: No Greer! No Greer! No Greer!

So good thing I didn't say that.

Greer is massively charismatic in a slightly dodgy way and has an equally massive ego but I'm not so sure his organisations fit the definition of cult. Certainly he is not in the same league as Jim Jones, the Heaven's Gate cult or harmless UFO-connected oddballs like Meier! Greer had brought some good witnesses into the public domain. Just a shame he never followed through on his 2001 press conference. Personally, I think it would be a mistake to completely disregard all those witnesses in his Disclosure book/film through guilt via association.

I try to be fair, and not dismiss people because I do not like "them". but I think it is important to remember that "trust" is an important part of belief, and in the case of greer I can not trust the man. my opinion is that he is dangerous: especially because of his paranoia, and after reading that he "allegedly*" locked a group of people in a building because he was afraid, I personally would cross the street if I saw him coming.
I also think it is a mistake to underestimate how "clever" greer is, after all this is a guy who charges thousands of dollars for a "son et lumière**" with no sound!

Apparently, more information has come to light about Greer's antics at the Contact in the Desert Conference. According to the blog of skeptic Robert Schaeffer, the allegations that Greer's security team (Black Ops Security apparently...) was preventing people from entering or leaving the conference are true, though it was in 10 minute intervals and not a complete lockdown as has been stated before. I guess David Wilcock is somehow involved in all of this and showed up to the conference with, of all things, a bomb sniffing dog! How long before these nutcases do some serious damage? Here is Schaeffer's blog post:

A "Bizarre Horror Show" at a UFO Conference

From August 9 to 11, 2013 "Contact in the Desert" was held at Joshua Tree Retreat Center, in Joshua Tree, California. Fortunately it was held indoors, because outdoors the temperature hovered around 110 degrees. Among the "luminaries" lecturing were George Noory, Steven Greer, Giorgio A. Tsoukalos [aliens!], David Wilcock, Jim Marrs, William Henry, Michael Salla, Jason Martell, David Sereda, Richard Dolan, and Travis Walton.

But not all of the heat was outside. A page on Unknown Country, the website of Whitley and Anne Strieber, has an article dated September 5, titled "William Describes a Bizarre Horror Show at a UFO Conference." It concerns William Henry, a promoter of woo who lectures about ancient Egyptian "stargates" and is a frequent guest on Coast to Coast AM and Ancient Aliens.
William Henry tells a horrifying story of imprisonment of the audience at the Contact in the Desert Conference August 9--11. He says that David Wilcock came with a bodyguard, and that Steven Greer arrived with a whole group of bodyguards, who proceeded to lock the doors and allow nobody in our out during his presentation. If this happened, it was illegal, and we urge all UFO conference attendees to demand that they not be imprisoned during any performance for any reason.
David Wilcock is a psychic and best-selling author of loopy books on Consciousness. He claims to be the reincarnation of Edgar Cayce. UFO mega-celebrity Steven Greer needs no introduction (if you aren't familiar with Greer, enter his name into the search box at the top of the page).

I know someone who attended that conference, so I asked him if this was true and if he knew anything about it. Short answer: yes, it's basically true. He doesn't want his name mentioned, but here is what he wrote:
Have you seen the movie "Bruce Almighty?" Do you remember Morgan Freeman playing God where he was dressed in an all white suit? Well Wilcock came out wearing the exact same thing with his "holier than thou" attitude ( which, by the way, including him shoving aside a young woman who was merely asking for his autograph on his own book....I bet she won't buy another one of his books again). Anyhow, I got sick of hearing his bologna during his lecture so I walked out. Now here is where I may be wrong or Streiber is wrong but I believe it was Wilcock speaking when this incident happened: I'm outside talking to a friend at the coffee vendor when I hear some loud arguing with a familiar voice. The normally soft spoken Henry was livid & was walking from the side of the hall to the front with someone trying to restrain him. He banged on the door & a security guard opened the door & he went crazy yelling at the guard for not letting his wife outside to get some air. Apparently she has a condition of some sort & also was extremely hot yet the guards didn't open the door to let her out. The yelling lasted for a few minutes & as Henry walked away with his wife, he was still yelling back at the guard, loud enough to where just about everyone in the vicinity heard. He said everything from it being illegal to lock people in, a big lawsuit can arise if anyone gets hurt, etc...all valid points. One more thing I might add: Greer showed up with armed guards with "black ops security" written on their shirts. Wilcock not only had guards, he had a bomb-sniffing dog with him!! Can you believe that? Anyhow, it was truly a fiasco....every bit of it.

Interplanetary Peace and Love at the Conference

I asked him how, if the doors were locked, did he manage to walk out of Wilcock's lecture. He replied,
It's weird what security was doing. When I was standing outside, I saw people grouping together at the door to get in rather than going in as they pleased. Apparently the security was only allowing people in at 10 minute intervals. When I was inside, I just so happen to be walking out toward the main entrance as they were opening the door for the others to come in. So you could say that had I not been coincidentally at the right place at the right time, they would have refused me leaving for up to 10 minutes. Also, I never saw Greer's lecture indoors (he did something outdoors too which they obviously couldn't control that but his armed "black ops security" guards were on stage with him). So it definitely was Wilcock's lecture that William Henry flipped out on although it's possible they used the same protocol for Greer (although Wilcock seemed to be the craziest one with his bomb-sniffing dog.....)
So apparently they were only letting people out when other people were being let in!

Here is a brief video my friend took showing Greer walking up to the stage at his outdoor event, flanked by his "Black Ops Security" guards. If you watch this carefully, full-screen, you can just make out the words "Black Ops" I seriously doubt that people who work in Black Ops wear shirts that say "Black Ops" on them. That sort of defeats the purpose of a Black Op, doesn't it?

Anyone else who has first-hand knowledge of this matter, please share it with us. And surely somebody, somewhere, must have taken a photo of Wilcock's bomb-sniffing dog in action? I'd love to see that!

I would also love to see a photo of Mr. Wilcocks' bomb sniffing dog. The delusions of grandeur that some of these whackadoos are obviously suffering from is astounding...

Goggs, thanks for the comments on Ingo Swann. "Penetration" is a very, very curious book which I find hard to believe was intended to be taken seriously by the author himself. His autobiography (unfinished?) on his webpage, on the other hand, is fascinating and the work of a first-rate, if argumentative and somewhat plaintive mind. He saw a lot of curious sh*t go down, and named names. I also found a great early study of RV, "Thoughts Through Space", via Swann's autobiography, the former was a tome he allegedly found on a skimpy shelf of books deep in the Library of Congress which purported to be the only paranormal books the Powers that Be took seriously. I don't doubt it; it's from 1948 or so, and is the best scientific documentation of a long-term RV experiment that I've ever read. Very interesting stuff, Swann leads to more interesting avenues than Greer does, any old day! Greer is, at (?) best, kid's stuff!

Sorry to hijack, back to the (ugh) task at hand...

I study that list well and commit to memory... ;)

Whacked as he is, Greer's avenues do lead to Swann and a lot of other things. He's in the mix, he has his ideas. Very few of them are not worth taking a closer look at but he's not a credible source himself. Joe McMoneagle is on the RV subject.
