Dr. Steven Greer --> Here we go ...

At least he has a sexy body vs your crush Silvia Brown!

Hey, fat guy here. I know I'm not one to talk but somebody has to say it....

You find Jeffrey Dahmer's head on Ned Flanders' body sexy?

Someone photoshop that. I'm pretty sure the shirtless Flanders + Jeffrey Dahmer = Steven Greer.

"Stupid sexy flanders"

Dr. Steven Greer --> Here we go ...

Jeremy,
I was joking about Greer being sexy! I am not THAT shallow and I actualy think body builders that look like they use steroids very freaky looking.

However he still is sexier than Silvia Brown which isn't saying much.

Joseph Smith wasn't a cult leader. There is a HUGE difference between someone like Jim Jones and Joseph Smith. Starting a religion and starting a cult are two different things. In religion you have a choice (Well Western religions anyways) and in cults the choices are made for you.

What? The difference between a cult and a religion is time, ie if a cult is around long enough it is considered a legit religion (exhibit A- Christianity, exhibit B- Mormonism, exhibit C- Scientology).

I see your point, but disagree.
Cults don't have time on their side. They strife for control like religion. But Cults own you physically and emotionally. Its not about a God , its about the central human figure. They implode or self destruct under their own weight. Think about all the cults you know of, and then think about whats happened to them. Usually everyone dies

Christianity, Mormonism and Scientology seem to be going along just fine and I consider them cults (fundamentalist, evangelical christianity in particular). They're just long-standing with an air of legitimacy, although less so in the case of Mormonism and least so with Scientology, owing to their relative youth. See? It's time-based. The longer they survive, the more legitimacy they achieve.

I don't consider things like Heaven's gate a cult in the classical sense: That's a group of crazy people.

OMG Heavens Gate was a cult. They were around since the 70's. They gave everything to that guy for years. He went off the deep end when his wife died and he couldn't resurrect her.

And everyone died

Manson family - Lots of People died

David Koresh - They all died

Jonestown - They all died

New Dawn - All Dead

That doomsday cult in Japan - Lots of people died - The police got to them before they could kill themselves.

These groups were cults. But they don't exist anymore cause they all died.

You see?

Man needs his rituals so he created religion.

They needed something to explain the sun, moon stars, and any other shiny object they couldn't explain.

And political clout. Christianity was considered a heretical sect or cult for years after the crucifixion. In fact the word "Christian" was a derisive title bestowed by their' enemies. Oh! yea., a crap load of them died., Martyrs and Saints.
"I say you are Lord, and I should know. I've followed a few" John Cleese from The Life of Brian.

Well that's entirely my point. If any of them had survived they'd probably be religions by now. And by the way I do consider roughly half that list to fit the traditional definition of a cult (large membership being one of my lesser criteria). Another modern example would be that guy who claims he's the anti-christ and gets his followers to tattoo 666 on their bodies.

Man needs his rituals so he created religion.

No argument there. I'm just saying that ALL religions, without exception, started as cults and that therefore ANY cult is a potential future religion, it simply has to survive long enough.

Oh and speaking of the anti-Christ. Isn't there some charismatic politician that the whole world is getting in line behind? spooky.

If someone tries to assinate him and he is "miraculously" healed, you may have something. Otherwise big deal, there have been charismatic leaders before. Hell, I've seen lengthy arguments declaring everyone from Saddam Hussein to Vladimir Putin to Prince Harry the anti-christ.

Anti-christ is an all-or-nothing gig, you don't score points for being kinda-sorta-maybe-anti-christ.

Dr. Steven Greer --> Here we go ...

He's charismatic?

Oh the snarkiness is strong in this one. :D

Ya dude, if you haven't noticed he's like the beatles, Kennedy's and even Hitler. He drew 30,000 in Germany. So ya I would think he's got a little something going on.

Well if you would have paid attention in your Antichrist 101 class Capt, you would know that none of the people mentioned above in your post do not fit the profile of the Anti-Christ (Which is a load of crap by the way). He's a wolf in sheep's clothing, a Trojan horse.

The Cult of Personality (and Ghandi!!) draws many people to his side, which he then betrays and slaughters. Oh and then some dude comes down from the sky and smites him or whatever. and aren't the Jews Christians by now?

Xperiencer7
also the persecution of the Christians is nothing new. It is mans nature to try and destroy discredit anything new that threatens the status quo. The same thing happened to science when it tried to separate from the Vatican.

The Christians started out as an underground movement that basically made each person a child of GOD. Compared to the other religions at the time, this was as radical as saying the earth revolved around the sun. They would kill you for saying this. Christians became legitimate after Constantine officially recognized them and they quickly went downhill when they got a little taste of power. Which is human nature.

Anytime a group of peoples belief system is threatened they will lash out and attack. So a bunch of pagans who worship many Gods start calling the Christians who worship one God a cult really doesn't hold much weight. Its not what they believe so it must be wrong or evil and vilified. Its just Propaganda. Its nothing new.

Oh and Dr. Greer is a poopy head

You're reading one of those loopy, "New living translations" of revelations, aren't you? F' that! King James, all the way, baby! Stinging locusts and ten-headed beasts ahoy! I wonder how far we are off from a loaf of bread costing a days wage?

I am the antichrist. So what.... For some reason you people think that the antichrist is bad. Maybe he just needs a friend. And a cinnamon cookie. Always with you (Yoda speak, he's from Satan) some bullshit you can't prove. How bout, just sitting back, relax, and then let a big fart out of your ass instead of mouth? Yes?

hicup, sorry I drunk. ruff day.
