IAEA Official: "What we are trying to say is consider" putting all the toxic Fukushima water in Pacific — Impact on human health must be monitored — Nearby countries all against it.
Fukushima people can seek compensation for decade. Japan's Diet has extended the period for people seeking compensation for damages caused by the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The previous 3-year limit has been lengthened to 10 years. The Upper House passed a bill for the enactment on Wednesday. The ruling coalition parties proposed the bill as the current civil law limits the right to seek compensation from the plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company to up to 3 years from the accident. The new law notes that some people affected by the 2011 accident have been unable to seek compensation because they are having difficulties in calculating the damages. Many residents still live in temporally housing. The new law will enable people affected by the nuclear disaster to file a compensation demand with TEPCO until 10 years after the accident. The law also calls on the government to improve the consultation system and provide information to disaster-affected people so that they can receive compensation as early as possible.

Xinhua, Dec. 4, 2013: Lentijo said that TEPCO should weigh the possible damaging effects of discharging toxic water against the total risks involved in the overall decommissioning work process. [...] Tanaka highlighted the fact that while highly radioactive water could be decontaminated in around seven years, the amount of water containing tritium will keep rising, topping 700,000 tons in two years. [...] nuclear experts have repeatedly pointed out that [tritium] is still a significant radiation hazard when inhaled, ingested via food or water, or absorbed through the skin. [...] fisherman, industries and fisheries bodies in the Fukushima area and beyond in Japan’s northeast, have collectively baulked at the idea of releasing toxic water into the sea [...] TEPCO will be duty-bound to submit assessments of the safety and environmental impact [...]

Food products labeled ‘organic’ or ‘bio” can easily contain irradiated ingredients, or shelf products labeled ‘organic’ can be treated by radiation by wholesalers or major supermarket chains before being placed on sale.

On a somewhat related note....and a happy one...the missing shipment of cobalt 60 in Mexico turned up. I guess there was no real danger as far as the possibility of being made into any kind of bomb but there is certainly danger from accidental exposure from having the shipment being driven all around. It seems the still unknown thieves are living on very borrowed time. Maybe I should have posted this in the darwin awards thread.

In the accounts I read the guys transporting this shipment were jumped at a rest area, it's not like they took a nap or had lunch and walked out to find the truck missing, I have to wonder about the exchange...if any....between the drivers and the thieves also wouldn't the drivers be wearing or have nearby, some protective suits? If I was going to steal a truck and I saw protective gear, even if I didn't recognize the international radiation danger sign, it would certainly give me pause. It sort of doesn't add up I wonder if the robbery was somehow arranged and something went wrong.

They’ve cut way back on radiation monitoring after the Fukushima meltdown, underplayed the amount of radiation pumped out by Fukushima, and raised acceptable radiation levels …
There have been massive radiation spikes in Canada because of Fukushima,” said Gordon Edwards, president of the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility.

“The authorities don’t want people to have an understanding of this. The government of Canada tends to pooh-pooh the dangers of nuclear power because it is a promoter of nuclear energy and uranium sales.”“In effect, Health Canada has not allowed Canadians to take any preventative steps to reduce our exposure to this radiation.

If you are confused as to what happened to the power plants then take the time to watch this video it is a nice explanation.

The interview with Yoichi Shimatsu is the scariest yet. I recommend listening to it.
The guests on this week`s Global Research News Hour speak of cover-up. Yoichi Shimatsu spoke to the Global Research News Hour about the misleading statements coming from the Japanese government and the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) about the explosions from March of 2011, the radiative effects, and the secretive role of Fukushima as a storage site for Plutonium and nuclear weapons.

Hatrick Penry goes even further. Penry utilizes documents disclosed from unimpeachable documentary sources, attained through Freeedom of Information requests, to show that much more radiation was released into the atmosphere than is generally recognized.
