Anyone notice how the government is running out of money to put these converter boxes in people's houses?

I find that probably to be the most interesting part of it, that we need a bailout of the government so that every slob in this country can continue to be brainwashed by an overpriced puppet theater.

Down Under, we have to buy our own .the standard def digital box cost me about 60 ausdols but my hi definition one was 300.

for the older sets a SD settop box is all you need, the HD one is for the big screen HD TV in the lounge

whats funny is the EPG (program guide) on the SD box is pretty good, only a days worth at a time though the box can obviously display a weeks worth.
but on the HD box only one chanel uploads to the EPG.
the others are blank. and for a party trick i put one TV on standard analog , another of SD digital and another of HD digital..... not one is in synch so you get this insane tripple echo happening.......

That is not surprising. I doubt there is much of the U.S. Treasury left after this ridiculous "economic bailout" madness. When you hear that the NFL received $2 Billion in bailout money "just in case", you start to come up with entirely new definations for terms like "rape" and "corporate welfare".

Could you provide a reference for a $2Bil bailout to the NFL? That's the first I hear of it.

This from profootballtalk.com as well:

NFL BORROWING $2 BILLION

Posted by Mike Florio on November 1, 2008, 5:02 p.m. EDT

To the extent that any credit is currently available for American business, the NFL reportedly is poised to gobble up $2 billion of it.
The goal apparently is to ensure the NFL’s ability to make payroll and pay bills during tight times.
“We’re making a decision that locks in significant financing, which was our top priority given the uncertainties in the credit markets,” said Anthony Noto, the NFL’s CFO.
It’s not a sign of the league having any type of trouble; indeed, if the NFL was having tough times financially, the league would never be able to borrow that kind of money in the present financial environment.

The NFL needs a fucking bailout?

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING???

This is exactly why I don't watch football. I could never understand why anyone would willing pay money to build a stadium, for millionaires to play a fucking game in.

It's like Golf Courses, and Country Clubs. Why should my tax dollars support that shit?

The NFL is not hurting for money. Revenues are just fine for them.

The NFL needs a fucking bailout?

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING???

That is my point. The NFL does not need a bailout. It is the most profitable sports league in the world, bar none.

Football is my favourite sport and I watch every Packer game religiously, but when I heard this I realized that this "economic bailout" is a complete and utter farce. The NFL continues to make billions of dollars in profit every year and needs this bailout money like the ocean needs more water. If they are able to take $2 billion of taxpayers money despite having no need for it, how much of the rest of the 700 or so billion is being wasted in such a manner?

So the linked articles seem to indicate that the NFL is setting up 2Bil of loans, but I have yet to find the direct correlation to taxpayer money. It doesn't look like they're disclosing WHO is loaning them the cash, and at what terms. Am I missing something?

It may seem kind of vague, but the PFT article states it at the beginning of the article:

To the extent that any credit is currently available for American business, the NFL reportedly is poised to gobble up $2 billion of it.

The $2 billion is (has) come out of the $700 billion bailout money that was doled out of the U.S. Treasury for failing businesses and FIs. This was originally announced on 1 November, so the link from PFT to the original news article in the Kansas City Star has been since deleted. I will attempt to locate another source of the info for you.

Are you saying that my brainwaves can get out to people?

Heheheh.

some would say yes.....

http://www.the7thfire.com/Orca/way_to_peace_through_elf_waves.htm

Puharich found that Hurkos, hooked to electronic equipment, was most successful -- for instance, in locating missing people -- when his brain produced an extremely low frequency wave of 8 Hertz (cycles per second).

CONSCIOUS CONTROL IS THE GOAL

Continuing his experiments Dr. Puharich had the opportunity to work with a

Yogi in 1956. Here he found a subject who could consciously control his brain waves, deliberately shifting himself from one level of consciousness to another. From this Andrija came to realize that people could be trained, with bio-feedback, to produce the 8 Hertz and other ELF waves consciously.

In 1962 his research shifted to psycho-kinesis when heard of Arigo in Brazil. There he saw this psychic surgeon shove a knife into the eye of a patient, with no pre-preparation of any kind, and operate -- with no pain to the patient! -- removing cataracts. Puharich made several visits to Brazil to research Arigo. While doing his healing work Arigo's brain, too, produced that tell-tale 8 Hertz wave.

David,

I have searched Google and cannot find a definitive statement that says the NFL is receiving taxpayer money. There are many links stating that despite the inability of coporations and banks to secure credit that the NFL is able to obtain $2 billion, but none stating where the money is originating from. The original article was posted on PFT on 1 November, and from the wording I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that the NFL was recieving monies earmarked for the bailout package. PFT is notorious for making controversial statements to evoke emotion in their readers. It is possible this was worded and posted at the time of the bailout announcement completely for sensational purposes. If my reposting of these statements has caused confusion in that regard, please accept my apologies.

I will continue to research this and let you know if I can determine anything concrete about where the money originated from.

Thank you for pointing out what looks like a probable assumption on my part.

Today my will was broken and I went to McDonald's.

I got a big mac value meal.

I could not stop myself.

I had been seeing the commercials on my HDTV for the last 2 days.

It tasted terrible, and I got itchy and paranoid after eating it.

I then took a nap. Now I'm just angry. I believe I've been fed subliminal messages through my TV to make me consume.

There is indeed a conspiracy afoot. I haven't eaten McDonald's in like 5 years.

Oh, Tommy, you succumbed. The trick at McDonald's is to get a couple of regular hamburgers for 79 cents apiece. It's just a bun, a small piece of hamburger, one pickle, ketchup, mustard, and some reconstituted onion flakes. That's it. No artery-clogging special sauce, no deep fat freedom fries, no super-sized Coca-Cola--just the basics. I always get three: Two for me and one from my dog. MMM, good. Hits the spot.

Which is why I was surprised that my will was so easily broken.

Considering this world is nothing more than a construct of my subconscious, one would have thought I could have resisted that temptation.

I need to do some brain exercises.
