HDTV Conspiracy.

99 cent Wendy's double-stack (is that fuckin' possum meat?) and a 40 oz Mickey's malt liquor (Irish piss with a shot of ethanol and anti-freeze). It's what I can afford. I'm gonna waller in it like an ol' bitch-dog. Life is good.

Today my will was broken and I went to McDonald's.

I got a big mac value meal.

I could not stop myself.

I had been seeing the commercials on my HDTV for the last 2 days.

It tasted terrible, and I got itchy and paranoid after eating it.

I then took a nap. Now I'm just angry. I believe I've been fed subliminal messages through my TV to make me consume.

There is indeed a conspiracy afoot. I haven't eaten McDonald's in like 5 years.
If you are going to go off your very restricted diet from what it sounds like at least eat something that isn't shit! I tried the no gluten and dairy once and that was very difficult and it really did not help.

I had that happen once a the movies years ago. I rarely if ever eat hot dogs but after watching some adds I went to the food counter and to my surprise ordered a hot dog. Those bastards I have a very strong will !

That shiite will fornicate up yer dogs liver...and yours.

onions are toxic to cats and dogs.

its amazing some of the stuff we ingest that can make a companion animal really sick, one nurofen tablet will give a dog fatal kidney damage, grapes are also toxic to dogs, and of course "chocolate's not good for dogs" as the cookie ad goes....

Well I shut off the TV, and wouldn't you know, my desire for rotten food has subsided.

I am convinced that HDTV conveys something that regular TV does not, and I am willing to bet it has to do with the fact that your brain is fooled by HD because of the picture quality, as opposed to the old grainy color TV's with the lines of pixels.

lol :D

Are you serious or just thinking out loud?

I'm only half joking.

I was watching my old TV the other day, saw commercials for different things and did not feel compelled to buy anything.

I've noticed though, watching the HD set I have, that I seem to feel compelled to want to buy certain things. Like Food, DVD's et al.

I would wager that if we were to take 2 groups of people, and subject them to a study about how hungry and thirsty they got while watching commercials on both analog, and HD Tv's, that the HD watchers would be hungry and thirsty more often than their analog counterparts.

Hey, you know...

This could be a pretty damned cool Paracast Test.

Get a few people together and watch TV on an analog TV set.

Get a few other people to watch TV on an HD set.

have a neutral party administer a questionnaire after watching 3 hours of TV, and see how they feel about certain things they see.

THAT would be some interesting science.

Would be interested in the results of that if youre as serious as you seem.

Personally, I pay absolutely zero attention to ads whether Im watching on our HD lcd or the old analog TV. I loathe TV ads with a passion.

I hate the ads too.

I find myself though sometimes being lulled by the food and of course movie and DVD ads.

I would LOVE to conduct this experiment, but the problem I would have, is that I'm already biased as to the outcome.

That's simply because a friggin huge, high-definition pizza looks a hell of a lot more appetizing than a grainy, fuzzy, small pizza. No magic here.

Which is precisely my point!

How many times have you seen a McDonald's commercial, and said... You know, I want to eat some of that garbage?

It's crazy.

Seriously though, I think some unbiased testing, (Without ME) needs to happen.

Testing to prove what? That advertising is scientifically designed to appeal to our basic instincts and urge us to purchase things on impulse?

That is like asking for testing to see if water is wet.

Do you honestly think that is some deep dark secret?

I have an HDTV. I am not compelled to buy anything from it. I am not hungry when I watch it. But I don't watch more than an hour a day of it.

My dog eats the meat and half a bun of a regular McDonald's hamburger. It does not hurt him. It is not toxic to him or to me. My dog is the healthiest of his litter. He's 13 and shows no signs of slowing down.

All things in moderation.

the amount of onion on a maccas burger is prob not enough to make him sick, but its always worth knowing what foods are not good for dogs

second one on main page deals with onion

"Onions and garlic are other dangerous food ingredients that cause sickness in dogs, cats and also livestock. Onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient thiosulphate. Onions are more of a danger."

Yeah you have to be careful with dogs. I had Subway the other day and gave my dog a little piece of chicken than I thought didnt have any sauce on it. The next day there was diarrahea everywhere so I guess there must have been something on the chicken (I had that southwest sauce on it, and its kinda spicy, but the piece of chicken looked clean).
