"...can't we all just get along?" There's no problem being a true-believer in skeptics, or being skeptical of true-believers, as long as we keep asking better quality critical questions about the last remaining mysteries but with an open (not a closed) mind

What is the NAMBLA? Enlighten us straight people who don't keep up with the ins and outs of those w/ the other persuasion?

DANG! There I go: I did it AGAIN!

Okay, still not firing on all cylinders yet but did you just suggest that the only way someone would know about NAMBLA was if they were themselves either gay or a pedophile?

At this point in history NAMBLA's pretty goddamned infamous. They were the subject of an entire episode of South Park. They're the Daily Show's go-to joke for akward acronyms. If you've never heard of them you've been living under a rock... on Mars.

I'm sure the trickster has something to do with it.

Apparently the trickster got to them. I guess you're over this thread because i brought up Stanford.
No Angelo, you are entitled to your opinion of Ray Stanford, so is the world-class physicist who met with him and had his mind blown a couple of weeks ago. I'm over this thread because we have veered way off from my original post that suggests that human precognition is a scientific reality---not a Randi-esque, rabidly debunkable fantasy.

Sigh! Oh well, at least somebody like Gene or Chris can ask him about it. Otherwise, I'm done with this one for now. You are a loyal man to your hero's Angel. To loyal I'm afaid because you think it's a black and white world. You may learn one day young man. Until then, I'm just going to let it go because as I've said before. I have some expereince in the whole abuse thing and no respect whatever for those who would hurt a child or screw up a young person. So, I'll just leave it there.

Wow tyder - that made no sense at all.

And Chris, please, post something about Stanford.

Aww come on dude! Now you are putting words in my mouth?

I have never seen the acronym before, but I don't watch TV, so you'll have to cut me some slack. I did inspire an episode of South Park, though... heh-heh

I tried to edit it to say they can ask Mr. Mosley about it. Anyway, I'm done with it. I think there will be better things to talk with Mr. Mosely about. Still, interesting stuff.

What was the title of this thread again? Is this evidence that we can see the future, was it? I think the last posts presented here are evidence that people can't let go of the past and keep regurgitating personal comments (some clearly offensive in my view) instead of debating ideas (whatever they may be).
After all, maybe I'm the one who's been coming to the wrong place for the past few weeks...

The one with the probe?
LOL GOOD one! But, no (sadly) it was the infamous "cattle mutilation" episode. Evidently one of the two dudes that created SP went to Adams State College and attended one of my lectures for Dr. Lynn Weldon's sociology classes on the "paranormal." I happened to catch an interview (back when I still watched TV) where he talked about it. Go figure... you don't need to be a "true-believer" to wonder at how the world moves in mysterious ways...

That's pretty cool.

You are absolutely right. I didn't help by defending Randi, but stuff like that irks me. Maybe I should go back to not posting...

Hey you guys.... sorry if I offended anyone. That was not my intention. I have a weird sense of humor on Thursdays, I suppose... Please accept my apologies. Maybe it is I who deserves a good, firm spanking.

Oh Lawd I just thought of a line...Nah, I'm afraid Angel would never forgive me....I'm done with it myself. I honestly didn't mean to add to the general nastiness of the world. Peace. Now back to the "Paracast" forums. I'll be good. :-)

No man, just checking don't worry about it. Like I said, I'm on four hours sleep here... comprehension levels at minimum... coffee requirements urgent...

As yet another aside though (there's a lot of them in this thread) I don't really get why some people still crap on TV in this day and age like it's an inferior medium, as if there aren't a million books published every year that are purile, stupid or just plain old wastes of paper. TV's like any other form of communication, entirely dependant on the consumer to be selective in their exposure.

But like those who complain about all the commercials on the Paracast, I can't stand watching commercials time after time after time on TV. Once is OK, but after a hundred times, most of them drive me nuts. I tried using my mute button religiously for years, but finally gave up in total frustration. There are a few shows I like, (I hulu Fringe, American Experience, Nova, etc) but it's the commercials and (sadly) the mainstream BS news that really sets me off. There is no "fourth estate" anymore but there is a cumulative numbingly-entraining effect on the brain. Like Hitler et al said it best: "if you repeat a lie enough times, eventually the people will believe it." Boy, was that an understatement when you look at news coverage in this country!

I gave up my cable a couple of years ago. The commercials didn't bother me. It's just that anything I want to watch I can find on the internet for nothing, through torrents, usenet, services like megaupload, etc. And well, 99% of stuff on TV is absolute crap imo. Amazes me that people actually want to watch things like Dancing With the Stars, Jersey Shore, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and a kzillion other things. Yawn. The kind of things I like don't get made often and when they do the ratings are often low and they don't last very long. Gonna' watch Miami Heat vs Cleveland Cavaliers tonight and won't need cable to do it. :)
