I also find the entire UFO occupant observation things seemingly designed for display. Of course that's strictly a projection and is what happens when we apply human reason to the mystery of UFOs and precisely why "they" never approach humanity in an open and clear manner. It's the pivotal birth of the trickster mentality which I have always had a serious problem with.
When I force myself to the side of my own programming with respect to projected reason and personification, I see UFOs as being singularity based technology used by members of the same environment we share with those that occupy them. There is no seeming natural specific community that humans share with these beings because of some unknown or confirmed natural specific base difference that make open compatibility a non issue. I believe however that these creatures are perhaps singularity technology themselves and more or less serve to forward the volition of beings we might actually consider to be Gods/Creators. The classic watcher school of thought.
It's also interesting to note that Betty Andreasson via Raymond Fowler's documentation described precisely the same thing as the clergyman in New Guinea. This being with respect to the little guys being out on the craft's ledge walking around while hovering over the ocean, collecting water from below, waving, and performing other tasks as well.
Going back to a repeated refrain regarding the source of the UFO enigma, 'there appears to me more than one point of origin.' I think that's really important to remember to help distinguish between cases that are pure image vs. those that involve physical contact, direct interaction, specific and overt trace evidence etc. The cases where figures are witnessed only, especially so ridiculously, does suggest the magician at work, a show being put on for our benefit - perhaps this is the trickster, whatever that means. But the great number of interesting reports that involve not only waving aliens, but scenes of other cities being witnessed in the sky, the geography yielding new or missing elements i.e. the house that suddenly is not where it's supposed to be, or the meeting of the leprechaun - all of which are witnessed by a series of connected and non-connected witnesses. These strike me as being cerebral experiences of minds interacting in places where the veil is thin (take that for whatever you think this could be i.e. magnetic fields, ley lines, continental fault zones, underground water whatever).
But cases like the Andreasson one that you cite, (one i'm entirely unfamiliar with, or at lease have forgotten reading about it when i was much younger) are the ones that allow me to lean towards the idea that the ETH carries some weight. These inexplicable physical events seem to be much more rare and I sever these from solo stories of AP where there is probably a much more human source at play causing delusions and convincing sensations. Those stories seem to have very common, repeated features, whereas the really fascinating stories are just so bizarrely different from each other that there seems to be something real at play.
