I remember an essay written by Harlan Ellison, in which he bemoaned (okay, he "be&(%@!+#ed", this IS Harlan after all) the fact that the words "science fiction" were being replaced by the term "sci-fi". He pronounced it "skiffy" and commented further "If you like peanuts, you'll love sci-fi".

Us Boomers will get it, maybe some Gen-Xers. Or other intelligent folks.
