Again we hear of President Barack Obama’s diplomatic outreaches to Syria and Egypt, weeks and months before he won the November 4th election and became the U.S. President-elect. This is old news but not well reported news. Photos and video below.
A February 1, 2009 report from The Middle East News says that Obama has used “experts within the last few months to hold high-level but discreet talks with both Iran and Syria…,” and they acknowledge that these talks were ongoing before the elections.
Nuclear non-proliferation experts had several “very, very high-level” contacts in the last few months with Iranian leaders, said Jeffrey Boutwell, executive director for the US branch of the Pugwash group, an international organization of scientists which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995.
Former defense secretary William Perry, who served in Obama’s election campaign, participated in some of these meetings focused on “a wide range of issues that separate Iran from the West: not only their nuclear program but the Middle East peace process, Persian Gulf issues,” Boutwell told AFP.
The next line in the report says that the Pugwash official declined to name the other participants, except to say they had considerable clout.
That is probably the real story here: the “unnamed” participants, acting on behalf of an unelected Barack Obama, in the Middle East.”
There are some clues to one person who likely took part in these talks. His name is Robert Malley and he is very close to our new President.
He is close enough that Barack Obama hired him, then had to fire him in Spring 2008 because Malley’s cozy relationship with Hamas was revealed…by Hamas. The problem, though, to Senator Obama seemed not to be that Malley was “connected,” but that Malley’s close contact was revealed…in otherwords, he got caught.
(IsraelNN.com) Hamas is claiming close and ongoing ties with America’s upcoming Obama Administration, according to a report published Tuesday in the Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat. The relationship was kept under wraps until after the U.S. elections so as not to harm Obama’s election prospects. The U.S. has classified Hamas a terrorist organization.
Denials of Malley’s influence inside the Obama campaigned were quickly issued.
Six months later, November 5, 2008 to be exact, Middle East Newsline’s Washington office quoted Obama aides saying that Obama had dispatched his “senior foreign policy adviser, Robert Malley” to Egypt and Syria “over the last few weeks.
Aides said Obama had sent senior foreign policy adviser Robert Malley to Egypt and Syria over the last few weeks to outline the Democratic candidate’s policy on the Middle East. The aides said Malley, who served in the administration of President Bill Clinton as Senior Policy Advisor at the Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation, at the relayed a pledge from Obama that the United States would seek to enhance relations with Cairo as well as reconcile with Damascus.
The tenor of the messages was that the Obama administration would take into greater account Egyptian and Syrian interests, an aide said.
Malley was “fired” just long enough to drop off the political radar until Obama had the power of the election behind him. It took less than a day to announce Malley as a senior policy advisor.
So what is the problem with Robert Malley? He was born in Cairo, Egypt to an Egyptian father (or some reports say Syrian) and an American mother. He grew up in France. His father, Simon Malley is said to be Jewish, but he lived his life for anti-Israel activism (as does the Jewish George Soros). The Malley parents were close friends and confidantes of Yassar Araft, and were sympathizers of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). He was an outspoken critic of Western Imperialism. Simon Malley and his family was expelled from France for publishing a radical magazine about Africa. It seems the magazine issued “genuine appeals to murder foreign heads of States.” He was expelled to the U.S.
The New York Times said:
Afrique-Asie, which is issued every other month, has strongly backed leftist revolutionary movements, criticized moderate African and Middle Eastern leadership and denounced Israel. (NYT, Oct. 4, 1980)
Yassar Arafat protested the expulsion order to the French Government.
Back to Robert Malley who is the head of a Middle East policy think-tank, International Crisis Group, funded by anti-Israel billionaire, George Soros.
The world in which Robert Malley grew up was one in which Yasir Arafat, Fidel Castro, Leonid Brezhnev and Todor Zhivkov were heroes, any American leader – even Jimmy Carter! – was villainous, and Israeli leaders were veritable demons.
So we cannot blame Robert Malley for Simon Malley’s views, but…Robert Malley wrote about this world, at least to some extent, in his book The Call from Algeria: Third Worldism, revolution and the turn to Islam, and in no way did he denounce or renounce it.
To be clear, Obama did not confirm in the recent report in Middle East News, that Malley was the contact, but considering that Obama DID announce Malley as his senior foreign policy adviser, it’s reasonable to believe that Malley is among those unnamed officials having “clout.”
So who in the Obama administration will advocate for Israel?
