Donald Trump has single-handedly defeated the two most powerful political dynasties of the last quarter century, the Bush family and the Clintons. I don't have to like the result (and I don't) to appreciate as an historian the magnitude of his achievement, and the importance of the moment.

Dude you nailed it in such a concise way

And what of Paul Ryan? The environment is ripe for the Republican Party to further it's case but will he be part of it ?

Yes, Yes he is
And id like to think we friends here can be gracious in the circumstances regardless of which way we might have leaned in this

Not a bad speech said right things especially to an nervous world and market (We'll play nice and fair). As he was saying this I can recall with clarity the day in June 2015 when he came down that escalator with the paid crowd cheering him on and never thought he could pull it off or even if he really wanted to. I have at times wondered if he even was serious at first but got caught up in it.

And I can remember him standing at the bottom of an escalator exclaiming how in ten years he would be dating a little 12 year old girl who was riding up the escalator.

In truth the polarised opinion re Clinton vs Trump isnt any different to the polarised opinion regarding what UFOs are and where they come from

It would be bloody boring if it wasnt

I only hope that in my lifetime the question is resolved as "post biological artificial sentients in hybrid biological/technological substrates from the Pleiades and that galaxy 3 nebula's to the universal left of this mudball we call earth

And that a significant percentage of our DNA is for the purposes of species uplift and data storage

Realistically though, i think Trump supporters are going to sleep the sleep of the satisfied sooner than i will. though i would be willing to endure multiple anal probes to even my odds

"How Vladimir Putin Won the U.S. Election"

Yes, Putin happy, the markets view for the U.S. economy not so happy.

Waiting to see what kind of hit the Trump win will have on our retirement accounts and investments tomorrow.

It wont have any long term effects i predict. and i predicted his win
They all said Brexit would have a negative impact on british industry and the reverse has happened.

If your retirement accounts hinged on a single person in a single chair in a single room in a single building in a single city in a single country... then they deserve to fail.

The POTUS is a figurehead a frontman, hes the ringmaster not the circus and its composite acts.

Its going to be fine, and i would have said the same if hillary had won. these people are the wallpaper, not the brick walls holding up the roof

It's not my view. It's the view of the markets. We'll see if they have any confidence that Trump knows what he is doing.

Trump won due to his expressed outrage aimed squarely at an extremely corrupt system that has been bent on forwarding itself by enslaving the people that built it for many years now. Trump's winning of the office of POTUS that he now holds is completely symbolic of one single word in principle. Revolution.

The ONLY reason that the market looks as it does right now is very simple. A bunch of adolescent, party throwing, and thoroughly irresponsible teenage world banking cheese eaters are standing there hushed, with their half empty party accoutrements in hand. The front door is flung wide open amid their folly, and guess who's standing there in the threshold, having just returned home early and unannounced? Their daddy, Big Don.

Time to clean up the much disarrayed and disrespected elitist sorority white house that was once a unified symbol of the United States' essence of justice and liberty for ALL. And not just the self entitled few that have partied there and wasted our money for decades.

May the fires of a peaceful and thoroughly justified american revolution continue to burn bright, as what has been wrong for so long, is finally made right.

Rock On MR. Trump, Rock On!

I think the media and the pollsters underestimated the extent of disaffection, and didn't sample rural voters properly. Despite all the gains in the Obama administration, millions of people are suffering. Hell, I'm suffering, as you well know, and it's not gotten better for me.

These people believe Washington isn't paying attention, and they don't see the process issues (Republicans saying no to anything Obama proposed). They just want change at any cost, and they will get it.

President Trump will have to moderate after he takes the oath of office, or it'll be a mess. The Republicans have a scant Senate majority, so Democrats can filibuster anything they don't like. There will have to be compromises.
