He's starting to be concerning again.....:(

Robert Reich: "Early this morning the president-elect of the United States sent out two lying tweets about the New York Times: "Wow, the ‪nytimes is losing thousands of subscribers because of their very poor and highly inaccurate coverage of the 'Trump phenomena' " and “the ‪nytimes sent a letter to their subscribers apologizing for their BAD coverage of me. I wonder if it will change - doubt it?”

"Also this morning Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, appearing on "Fox News Sunday," raised the specter of legal action against political critics of Trump. After condemning comments of Senator Minority Leader Harry Reid, she said Reid “should be very careful … in a legal sense. He thinks — he thinks he's just being some kind of political pundit there, but I would say be very careful about the way you characterize it.

"Imagine 68 days from now when Trump runs the Justice Department, the I.R.S., the F.B.I., and every other agency capable of harassing opponents.

I am still laughing my ass off at Hillary losing and how her supporters are still acting loonie as heck.

On another note, I wonder if any other countries deal with what I deal with on a daily basis;

I work for a good sized family business that sells stuff to a bunch of chain restaurants in the NY/PA/NJ/CT area. We have about 9 office workers (I'm one of them) and the rest of the staff (which is proll around 60 people are warehouse personnel).

NOT ONE of the warehouse personnel are American. They are from either Mexico or Honduras. Only a few of them speak English (most of them are good guys & bust their ass). But it's frustrating when I can't understand them and vice versa.

So do you think there's a company say....in Germany, where all the office people are German but 100% of their warehouse are American's. And mostly all of the American's can't understand the Germans and vice versa? I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. But for some reason, this is the norm in the U.S.

The other thing that chaps my ass is; when I'm in the dispatch room - all the tractor trailor drivers that are making deliveries to our place have to come into dispatch. I'd say 99% of them are foreigners and speak little to no English. So A) how the hell did you get the job? B) They get frustrated with ME because I can't understand them. Wait a minute. If ANYBODY is going to get frustrated how about it's ME getting frustrated with YOU? I was born and raised here. I speak fluent English. You're going to have the balls to get mad at me when you're the one that's NOT FROM the United States, but you are living and working in the United States and cannot speak English? WTH?

But somehow, we've numbed ourselves down to accept it and deal with it.

Again, I'd like to see a company in Finland employ 99% Mexican people that can't speak one lick of the local language. See how long that would be tolerated. But not here in the U.S. Somehow we welcome it with open arms.

When did speaking English at the least become a requirement that got thrown out of the window? Maybe I should ask the owner of my company why I can't understand anybody in the warehouse? And based on the number of foreigner truck drivers that make deliveries at my place - I have to extrapolate those numbers to say then that 90% of all tractor trailer drivers in the U.S. are foreigners.

It's a crying shame.

If you can discredit the major news sources who hold a leader accountable, then it becomes easier to control the masses. This is why both Fox and Breitbart News have played key roles in the spreading of many false stories to garner support for Trump. The New York Times & Washington Post have historically provided mostly credible sourced information, and they are aware of their legal footing. This is problematic for the president-elect because any fallout from national security breaches or illegal financial dealings would likely emerge through these sources.

So he goes after them so that his supporters suspect the two outlets that can be trusted to tell the truth. :(

But what I find more disquieting was this:
"Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, appearing on 'Fox News Sunday,' raised the specter of legal action against political critics of Trump. That's a threat. Might as well be Venezuela. It can literally happen in a handful of years. Trump can do significant damage.

Worse:
"Imagine 68 days from now when Trump runs the Justice Department, the I.R.S., the F.B.I., and every other agency capable of harassing opponents."

And don't forget the warning of Omorosa - more disquieting because of her own hesitation in openly speaking -

Omarosa on 'Bow Down to President Trump' Comment
TEXT: "Published on Nov 11, 2016: Trump Supporter Omarosa Manigault, a former contestant on 'The Apprentice' and campaign director of African-American outreach, says she was speaking for herself when she made the controversial remark."

There goes freedom of the press.

Boy, you guys sure must be happy.

Within the First Amendment, (infringing on the freedom of the press), would be difficult to amend in the US Constitution. There are other ways of muzzling the press such as tying media sources to endless lawsuits and IRS audits in straining their financial resources. Although, with TNYT & WP, I doubt that would happen, as there might be many attorneys and other private & public entities willing to protect them pro bono.

A conversation on Facebook -

In Texas: "So just got a taste of what is in store for the US in the coming months. I was in the parking lot of Trader Joes and saw a guy who looked like an extra from Duck Dynasty yelling at someone sitting inside a white suv. The guy yelled 'liberal f☆☆☆tard' and 'I don't have to be civil anymore. I am tired of being civil' and asked the guy if he was a college professor. I did not hear the answer, but there was a lot of yelling about liberal college professors. When I came out of the store, I went to the window of the suv and saw a very kindly looking elderly white man and his poodle. I told him that I was sorry about what happened to him. And he said that the man had to be mentally ill. I know I have a lot of friends who voted for Trump and hope that you do not support this type of harrassment. And this was towards a white male too. I have always been anti-gun, but am thinking about starting to carry for my own safety."

"Your description fits my brother-in-law from Fredericksburg to a T. Harassment based on presumed intellectual position, etc. I know such bullying because of intellectual ability all-too-well, growing up in rural West Texas."

"And now these guys feel as if they can do or say anything they want to."

I just had a light-bulb moment: "Harassment based on presumed intellectual position."

Explains a lot - especially what I have seen on this thread (and other threads for sure). Not anything I have first-hand experience of in RL. So am a bit naive. Only on the internet have I seen that kind of behavior. I am understanding.

I am reminded of Mao's Cultural Revolution and the intellectual purges engaged in. Then there was Stalinist Russia, and beyond Stalin. The US had an intellectual purge during the MacCarthy era. This could get very bad before it gets better. I am going to hope we have more checks-and-balances - that our institutions cannot be utterly subverted by one man.

Finally there will be an end to funding and supporting the UN climate scam and exposing corruption at the EPA. Finally an investigation in to the autism/vaccine link and exposing the corruption at the CDC. Finally the dangers of GMO and glyphosates will be looked into.
People are waking up.

Gotta admit, the rise of the fourth reich seems a whole lot more relaxed

2016 Steve Bannon: chief strategist...
This Man Is the Most Dangerous Political Operative in America

Steve Bannon, former president of the incendiary Breitbart News and more recently chief executive of Trump's campaign, is taking on a role as "chief strategist and senior counselor." Bannon's ascension is the clearest sign yet that Trump will maintain his ties to the populist white nationalism that helped propel him to the White House against overwhelming opposition from party leaders and traditional media.

1933 Paul Joseph Goebbels (German: [ˈɡœbəls] ( listen);[1] 29 October 1897 – 1 May 1945) was a German politician and Reich Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945. One of Adolf Hitler's close associates and most devoted followers, he was known for his skills in public speaking and his deep, virulent antisemitism, which was evident in his publicly voiced views. He advocated progressively harsher discrimination, including the extermination of the Jews in the Holocaust.

I can only speak about what I have witnessed first hand in the UK:

Employers that employ workers who can't speak English tend to do so for financial reasons, that is to say somebody who can't speak English, has no idea of their basic employment rights.
You can pay them less, you don't have to insure them, you don't have to pay sick or maternity pay, you can make them work any hours and if they refuse there are plenty more desperate people to take their job. Obviously this is all illegal but it still goes on 24/7 & 365.

I imagine it would be absolutely terrifying to live in a country where you can't speak the language, and don't understand the culture or systems. You would be open to all sorts of exploitation.

When I was young I always thought that people came to London because they imagined that the streets were paved with gold, everyone one is polite and kind, and that the grass is greener etc.
The reality is very different, people come because we are a rich country, and sterling is more valuable than the currency where they had to leave, The majority of these people are young men, some shoulder massive responsibility in terms of financially supporting family back home, which makes them even more desperate and exploitable by employers.

What I am trying to say is that I blame the greed of the employers, who intentionally employ foreign workers because they are more easily exploited.
If you don't speak the language, you have a voice, but most people can't understand you, so you might as well not have a voice at all.

I have witnessed first hand small (elementary/primary school age) children translating for their parents, which is not right, everybody should have access to basic English language lessons, seeing an adult relying on a child in this way, is hard to witness. It is not fair on either party.

I believe that everybody who has the capacity should be made/helped/supported/forced to learn English, if they want to live in the UK.
This probably sounds draconian but my intention is give a voice to the voiceless, and help stop exploitation, and give children an equal chance when they get to school age.

Yeah, I know that it's Oregon and not "Orygun". I lived there for 7 years. Portland & Beaverton. Before that 12 years in Seattle. So remember the WTO riots? In fact, here's a little piece from "The Stranger" (sister publication to the Mercury in Portland) regarding the WTO riots;

I DON'T LIKE PROTESTERS

Anarchists aside I would consider the WTO protests just because you had a situation where a number of organizations were getting together and creating a compact that involved millions of lives and those millions didn't exactly have a direct say in it.

While I acknowledge a person's right to protest I feel it should be over a unjust action and I don't see anything unjust about the election. As DaveM and others pointed out it was Hillary's (and the Democratic party) election to loose, even history was against them. A vice president of a two term president is pretty much screwed.

It isn't my place to judge those that decide to take place in the protest... except for those that destroy property....but one of my customers was among the protesters and she took pains to distance herself from any of the troublemakers she took place simply to validate to herself at least that she was not she was less upset with any positions in the fact of his persona. And that he didn't define her. But at the same time she does say that he was elected fairly and we should give him the chance.

btw as I recall you weren't exactly the biggest fan of Christie do you agree with Trump's decision to rssential kick him to the curb despite the fact that Trump values loyalty? It seems to me if Trump is the Trump we saw in the run up he would of kept him in his inner circle but even he realizes political poison when it's pointed out to him

Also stories are coming out that Trump admitted to Christie that he didn't think he would last past October 2015 which I certainly thought but I thought it was also his intention all along.

Considering the machinations. sliming and back stabbings that go on ( including Trump's camp) in this process I've often wondered why anybody would want to get involved in the process. I guess it comes down to the free healthcare courtesy of the taxpayers and the fact that when the bombs fall theyll have a place to hide and won't have to Duke it out like the rest of us

Directly, yes.

Indirectly, no.

FWIW, just throw lawsuits at the media companies until you devalue them sufficiently to buy them.

Poof! Problem gone, along with the fifth estate and the court of public opinion.
