the pentagon

Very good! I'm also saying they didn't shoot down an airliner diving at the Pentagon, in case you missed that part.

Well that is the point. It wasn't shot down. Why wasn't it shot down? I believe that at that point in time it was already known that hi-jacked planes were off course.

Was it ...

1) Didn't see it coming.
2) Saw it coming, recognized it was an airliner and decided it was best to take the hit.
3) Saw it coming and could do nothing. (weapons offline, not there, whatever)

Is there any evidence that they knew they were in danger? Was there any warning given to anyone in the Pentagon?

We are a lot of silly people speculating and nothing more, but I would guess 2. Imagine how the Pentagon would look if they shot down an airliner over a city because they assumed it was headed for them. That and $5 will get you a foo foo coffee drink in most places if you are careful not to add too much foo.

The plane that went down in Pennsylvania (I think, I'm no enthusiast and it's been a long time since I studied this stuff but you know the plane) was apparently headed for the White House. I think if the Let's Roll crew hadn't (or possibly didn't) put it down in a field, someone else would have. Different situation, different target, and so on. But again, I am guessing like everyone else here so my opinion is not worth the paper it is printed on. The people who stormed the cockpit on that plane are heroes of the highest order.

Something else about the Pentagon: It is an office building, not a fortress on some hostile frontier. It's a very important office building of course, but the people inside literally have all manner of destructive capability at their disposal, so I would be surprised if the building itself were heavily armed. That would be complicated, expensive, redundant... but again, I am just some guy avoiding work because I don't want to think about how nice it is outside.

i wonder why they would have blast resistant windows and kevlar reenforced concrete walls on an office building?

I dunno, to protect from a terrorist attack?

Are you serious? Did you even read my post? Attempt to follow the logic? What do you suppose they have hidden in there? Machine gun turrets? Please elaborate. I don't care about evidence, because that is a futile pursuit here. We are all just guessing, like I said. What can you dream up? It might be interesting.

The Pentagon is in a large parcel of restricted airspace. Planes are supposed to be dispatched from nearby air bases (that I'm too lazy to look up) to intercept planes that violate that space. I think the story is that these planes were all busy elsewhere at the time engaged in multiple war games or whatever they call them.

Y'know what I wonder about? I wonder if you wonder truly about anything. In every situation your "questions" are framed so as to point to a specific answer, the answer you want. In every situation your "statements of fact" turn out, upon close examination, to be non factual. (A prime example is your contention that a large airliner is incapable of maintaining lift very close to the ground.)

What are the protocols for the defense of the Pentagon?

According to you it's obvious. To simply blast any possible threat to smithereens without thought or deliberation.

Why does the Pentagon have blast resistant windows and kevlar concrete walls?

Surely to protect against missile or missile like attacks. Other obvious possibilities seem to evaporate to you. Did you know that some embassy buildings for example have similar protections? Did you know that some corporate buildings do too?

What was or is the Pentagon prepared for in the nature of some kind of attack?

Surely the Pentagon was and is prepared for every kind of possible attack. After all its the Pentagon! The very fact that an attack succeeded is proof positive that something else had to be at work.

In the end your suspicions are based on absolutely nothing but your own expectations of what should be or should happen given a set of circumstances. You then mockingly and quite arrogantly elevate your thoughts to some sort of self evident concept like cause and effect and berate others for not seeing the obvious.

You have managed, it seems, to construct a kind of "meta truth" which allows you to see through plain old truth. I'd like to know how you did it. When I tried, it gave me a headache.

Here is a list of all war game exercises happening that day. They just happened to be practicing for 9/11 type events that day... oddly enough during the 7/7 London bombing they too were conducting exercises involving bombs going off underground and on buses... go figure...
9-11 Review: Multiple War Games on 9-11-01 Helped to Disable Air Defense

Ah! Now we're down to pixel's impeccable sense of irony.

Ironically it's the most convincing of any of his arguments on the topic to date.

Go figure.
