The minimum wage in New Zealand is now as of 2013 $11.05 USD .. we have not yet collapsed. Oh and incidentally that is still not really enough for people to live on over here so god knows how people in the US live on $7.20!

The short answer is two jobs combined with food stamps and emergency room medical care.

Economies have periodically collapsed throughout history. The problem is that no one seems to know exactly when and why. Or if they do, they ain't telling.

A joke:
Three men die and go to heaven where they were greeted by none other than Albert Einstein.

Einstein to the first man: "Welcome to heaven. By the way, what is your IQ?"
"My IQ is 160" the first man replies.
"Wonderful!", says Einstein. We can spend eternity discussing theoretical physics, relativity and quantum fields."
Einstein to the second man: " Welcome. And what is your IQ?"
"Not as high. My IQ is 140."
"Still marvelous", Einstein replies. "We can explore the entire history of human philosophy, Plato, Kant, Hegel and so many more."
"And you", Einstein says to the third man. "What is your IQ?"
"Not nearly as high. My IQ is only 120."
Einstein hesitates a moment. "So where do you think the economy will be a year from now?"

Stocks hitting all time highs while the populace hits all time lows - seems like a solid plan for future stability.

Not sure if someone posted this here, but this is making the rounds this morning, comparing the shape of the curve between the Depression and where we are today (granted our modern numbers are larger).

Was so good I listened to this twice.

simply put if you are not awake or bloody angry by the end of it then there is no helping you or reversing the programing.

The rise of Fascism ... I don't normally follow TYT but this is just over the top... and yes it is related to this thread.

Truth is if the Cops tried this with a Wall street Trader they would have been fired in 30 seconds.
