I was able to record last 15 minutes of the conference. Conference was streamed over CNN.

One portion is also available online by NECN Comcast altough audio was a little bit out of synchronisation from the video. I was able to fix that and I have uploaded better version. This is the download link for that version fixed by me:

Those that agree with Hastings will think he is right, those that agree with Bill Nye with think his opinion is valid.
From what I gathered, all Nye was saying is that it's quite a leap to go from saying it's something that we don't understand to saying it's an alien visitor. The rebuttal was that they aren't saying it's aliens, but we (humans) didn't have technology like that. All Nye wanted to know was, "What's your conclusion?" If it isn't one of ours (humans) then by definition it is alien, no?

I haven't seen any of the conference yet but I did manage to catch it being mentioned when I was flipping around the tv this afternoon and landed on CNN during "Rick's List". Except it wasn't Rick it was that woman he has on with him for "trending" I think it's called.

In the space of TWO MINUTES this bobble-headed newsmodel managed to ramble off references to Fox Mulder, the X-Files and project Blue Book and even managed to squeeze in a "little green men" remark at the end, completely glazing over the meat of the story and all the while giggling away like an 8 year old who just heard someone say the word "penis" before moving on to the VASTLY more important news of the day: wondering what impact SNL's portrayal of Christine O'Donnel will have on her campaign.

If I was eating at the time, I'd probably have thrown up.

I disagree with alot of the conclusions about the ETH and the way everyone assumes its aliens so much, but hey I got to say I think its great to see some decent news coverage.

This is an important point. They probably are not "aliens" from another planet in the strictest sense, but they aren't humans either. It's too easy for people to say there can't be UFOs because you can't get here from there due to distance and all. But we don't know what UFOs are. If we don't know what they are, we can't say what they can or can't do. They may be something that only appears to us as a UFO. You often read reports where several witnesses see the same object, but all saw something different.

The problem with people like Nye is they don't believe anything is being seen, that everyone is mistaken, and that people who experience contact with aliens are crazy. That's not a scientific viewpoint to anything. That's personal bias. If enough people are having the same experiences, something is going on, and it involves non human intelligence. Thing is, we can't define what that something is.

Humans do have a long history of reporting interaction with strange beings. Science wants to say it's all myth and legend, but the stories are uncannily the same across the globe.

Bottom line is; what we don't know is far greater than what we do know.

If you have a theory called the "Extra Terrestrial Hypothesis" you have to assume they mean aliens from another planet by definition.
My main issue is that we can't say for sure that what any of these guys saw is from another planet or another dimension, or whatever. All we know for sure is that they saw something that they did not understand. That's all we can say for certain.

The definition of "extraterrestrial" (one one, not two) is:

"of or from outside the earth or its atmosphere"

It does not mean from another planet. It only means not from this planet. So it's a life form not originated on Earth. But we don't know that either.

My main issue is that we can't say for sure that what any of these guys saw is from another planet or another dimension, or whatever. All we know for sure is that they saw something that they did not understand. That's all we can say for certain.

Okay, no need to argue semantics.

You also can't say that it certainly has nothing to do with humans. No one knows for sure, but we're all allowed to have our ideas, be they right or wrong.

Exactly. We can never know what these people have seen. And since it's a UFO, they don't know either. However, from what I have heard from this group, they seem to be leaning toward it being of extra terrestrial origin, or am I wrong about that?

I watched the Press conference and it appears they are very convinced at least Bob Salas and Hastings of the ETH but they did mention interdimensional

I am only comfortable going as far as "unexplained"

I'm comfortable with that as well. Anyone saying that they know for certain is deluding themselves.
It can be anything from the mundane (military aircraft or environmental phenomena) to the fantastic and terrifying (those aliens from the Simpson's that want to enslave us).

I think that is a mistake that people consistently make. I think a great deal of official "disinformation" is to get people to throw the human explanation out the window and concentrate on hypothetical and rather wild scenarios.

The objective of this press conference was.... ?

Is the government now under more intense pressure to respond ?

LOL, now that the dog and pony show is over, it can conveniently be sweeped under the old rug for another 10 years ?

Anybody know if any follow-up actions are planned ?... what was this all about ? selling books ?
