Well, you know, there is a certain logic to it - if you accept Israel's right to exist as rooted in centuries old prior claims to the land, then the dominoes begin to fall - so can Muslims claim that they should get back all 'their' former lands - closer in time, too. It's all the same.

Nothing is happening here that hasn't happened in spades across centuries in Europe - back-and-forth and back-and-forth - only ended (somewhat) in the last 50 years. (Russia is still at it).

Rather than take up arms at the mere threat - rather, think from another point of view. Solutions.

People in distress say many things. It's irrelevant. It's about getting a solution without taking on the rhetoric of the participants. You can decide to keep grinding away with the rhetoric but if you do, I would ask that you then get your country to pay the bill that allows that rhetoric to have wheels. I say no - enough is enough. Yes - and Jews are teaching their children to hate Arabs. Look, you can go down that road but there are sane and centered Jews as well as sane and centered Arabs who want to live in peace and harmony. Well, since taxes are brought up, and by gosh I pay a heap of them every year (and happily so, Uncle Sam, really!) I'm glad some goes to Israel. Besides, a relevant point is that Israel purchases these weapons. Of course we could go round and round on that, but purchase is the salient word. Also, a bit of research will net for the diligent researcher the fact that the US uses ISRAELI created and developed military hardware, too.

Bottom line, again and ad nauseam, is that the Palestinian GOVERNMENTS for many many decades have been funded and helped with EU, Australian, US, WESTERN money by the BILLIONS and it's been squandered by them, not spent on the people, who, though, pathologically, worship their terrorist leaders. This is fact.

And, as I've noted before, Palestinians are despised by their fellow Arabs. No oil wealth for them.

(After all - we went to war on the premise of imminent threats). With the passage of time things seem to have normalized though I am sure there remain pockets of ignorance - and I'm sure as well that the flames of intolerance could be fanned to roaring hysteria again if desired.

But whats the solution to a situation where 3 year old children like basmallah in the clip above are taught long before they have a chance to experience anything personal for which to feel a need for vengance, that it is their religious duty to hate and kill non muslims ?

When australian clerics are calling for the rape and beheading of australians, who have done nothing to invoke a need for vengance.

This is not about a reply to injustice and a call for vengance, its their fed at the tit ideology, taught along with their potty training and how to use a knife and fork that they must wipe us out.

I am aware that at this moment I am not talking to Americans - one Canadian poster trying to present as paying US taxes notwithstanding.

Anyway, US taxpayer or not, fundamentalism is a disease that we see everywhere - in religion, in politics, in economics. We are living in a polarized world. It's hard to find a solution in such a world - but the more individuals who make that choice for a solution rather than a continuation of the rhetoric of fear and hate - more will drop their weapons.

In the US we live with parts of the country steeped in overt racism - that goes for everyone - and other parts steeped in subvert racism. We still have sexism. You describe a situation in Australia with Muslims that I am not aware is taking place in the US - and if it is, it is in isolated pockets. A crazy here or there that even an American, born and bred, will take up. Crazies everywhere. But hate has no logic - be it Fundamentalist Muslims or Fundamentalist Christians or Fundamentalist Jews or Whites for Blacks or Blacks for Whites, Right or Left - it goes on-and-on.

What is the outcome of wild-eyed hysteria? Of getting one's adrenaline pumped up to fever pitch?
