Mrs. Steinberg is allergic to cats. It was time for a dog, and she bonded with our rescued bichon, Teddy Bear, in maybe five minutes. Our assessment of the little guy is that he's wacky in a good way. He has a sense of humor without doubt, and always conveys the impression, when you watch him, that he knows a lot more than he's letting on.

Gonna take a huge stab in the dark Gene and guess it was Mrs Steinberg who chose the name 'Teddy Bear' for your male dog? Not sure if that's a name I'd want to be shouting in a park amongst the general public - does that make me 'nameist' or just uncharitable?:)

Its been a tradition here lately to have a dog called "The Butler" our latest boy inherited it when we got him.

The neigbours must hear some interesting dialog

"Why are you shouting at the butler ?"
"I caught him drinking out of the toilet again"

"Damn that Butler, hes pissed on the pool table leg again"

And of course a nice twist on that for which dogs get blamed.....

"The Butler did it"

And we once had one, a twist of the "Deefer" dog name. we called her Be-phor......
