Please provide FACTS to support your statement that Obama wants to take guns away from law abiding citizens. This is a sound byte from Fox News. You have to be too intelligent to take anything on that Republican mouthpiece network seriously. This also may come as a huge shock, but in the course of ALL immigration, people at first retain their ancestral culture. They often would settle in areas together, e.g., New York City neighborhoods, where their culture would be a comforting cocoon around them. However, if the larger society is tolerant and open, the younger generations usually assimilate. As for taking American jobs, what kind of jobs? Please clarify. If someone was a ditch digger in Syria, I doubt they would do more than that here. Do you know many ditch diggers that aren't Mexican? In other words, low skill immigrants are going to be doing shit work that Americans do not want. However, if the professional class has fled Syria, such as doctors, then after going through the vetting process, I am sure the USA could use more doctors. I confess I have no respect for any bronze age religion, including Christianity. So I find it absurd for people who believe in fundamentalist Christianity to rant and rave against Muslims. Gun ownership has actually multiplied since Obama took office. Whatever the motive of the individual buyer, more people are buying therefore owning guns during Obama's presidency. Not that I'm against that, but if he's gonna grab them, time is running out. He's only got a year left in office.

Really nice. So if someone tries to point out that those humans over in that region aren't 100% down to the last out to get 'us' (granfaloonery alert) then it's a 'Fairy Tale' world. People (Americans like me) do criticize countries for bigoted immigration policy. Israel like all modern nation states is beholden to powerful leaders who are sold out to money (like Saudi Arabia, the US etc). When an Israeli minister (finance I think) spoke out against the anti-Arab legislation of the far right, I was going around praising his stance. So there are moderate people in the US. Yes there are people who criticize these policies (specifically Israel which was mentioned-why I brought that up) A minority.
But by the same logic that says keep Muslim descent or active Muslims are all in support of murder or savagery or intolerance is like saying I'm a Christian who goes whooo! At football games, eats fast food, is obese, and obsessed with Kardassian, etc. I am none of those things, however.

As far as the emergent discussionI agree with Gene, it's knee jerk reaction.
Im suspicious of statistics in the first place, but the public opinion might not be fully accurate and they are polls of impoverished, brainwashed, uneducated people.
If we disallow people based on their cultural religion, what then? What should America do with Muslims who are natural born American citizens?
I've heard commentary go so far as to say that we shouldn't allow anyone in the US who comes from that region, because they, as people who come from a Muslim country, may be radical terrorists.
They aren't they. People from the Middle East are people. There are shit people everywhere. I for one think anyone who hurts others or helps with killing and destruction should be dealt with. I'm not the wise person to say what the solution is.
I'm just not willing to throw the baby out with the bath water. As I don't identify with any religions it's easy.
