So when Trump says stop, what or who is he saying stop to?
Either there is a section of people that voted/support him and are actively behaving in hateful ways towards other citizens, or he is lying.
If you Trust Trump then you should surely acknowledge that there are serious issues because he (Trump) did so when he told those people to stop.
I have no idea of the true character or beliefs of Trump et al, but people are doing things in his name, and I believe that you feel it is unfair that people want to blame trump, because you don't believe in "guilt by association" as in: voting for trump doesn't mean you are prejudice etc.
I actually agree with you on this (assuming I have interpreted your feelings correctly) because it is a (grand)* assertion, to say that voting for trump makes you anything.
Just the same way that saying all people that voted against Brexit are left wing etc etc etc
Sometimes perceptions are as, if not more important than reality.
Whether you realise it or not, you have displayed a disregard for other peoples feelings, especially in terms of the choice of words you use.
And basically fell into the tap that you were so busy telling everyone about.........
The following statement is taken from a documentary that we have both recently watched:
"Freedom means Freedom, not some freedom, but all freedom, as long as you don't take away the life, liberty or property of your fellow man. You should be free to do anything you want to do. That is what built this country in the first place. So the solution to the problem is a return to that high ideal, return to that high ground, then everything is possible."
The reason I include this statement is because it sums up how I feel, by behaving in a hateful way people are denying fellow citizens their right to life and liberty, which is supposed to be totally against the constitution (as I understand it).
I am not accusing you personally of anything.
I would be naive to think the following words won't feel patronising and probably insulting, after all who am I to give you advice?
But I am going to say it anyway: I think the perception of many people on the forum is that you have not been vocal enough in and condemning the actions of some trump supporters.
Personally I believe that you do not and will not condone discrimination against fellow Americans.
But these events are happening, and people are being hurt as a result.
We need to stand together to ensure everyone feels safe and secure and are able to pursue happiness.
I am asking for your help.
I have probably said things previously that you won't forgive, but this is bigger than you and me, so I respectfully ask that you put aside our personal differences, and consider the possibility that we are actually on the same side.
I am not asking for a reply or acknowledgment, just that you think about it.
* as in a Blanket statement.
