Gaza Israel bombings

"God is a concept by which we measure our pain." ~ John Lennon.

Substitute the term "religious identity" with "tribal identity" and you have inched closer to underlying truth. At the core of humans is the deeply rooted concept of a "my people", a distinct subset of humanity for which the individual will sacrifice anything and everything. It has both genetic and societal elements and is possibly the single most powerful force underlying human action.

It was a bit simpler in olden times. Disputes between tribes might (or might not) be resolved by a marital union between members of ruling classes. Blood money might be paid, or a score could be settled by revenge on a small scale between family members. Taking days or weeks away from subsistence level toil to slaughter one's neighbors the old fashioned way was a labor intensive process. And maybe best of all--the 'geography to humans' ratio was much higher. It must have been easier for tribes to stay out of each other's way. Assuming they wanted to.

So we are back to managing a computer enabled and nuclear world while saddled with hard wiring and centuries of tradition that is dangerously obsolete.

Abbas turns down Egypt offer of “Palestinian” state in Sinai Peninsula five times larger than Gaza
By Robert Spencer on Sep 9, 2014 at 12:14pm

Of course he turned it down. The point is not to have a “Palestinian” state. The point is to destroy Israel. No one was crying about “occupation” between 1948 and 1967 when Egypt had Gaza and Jordan had Judea and Samaria. The “Palestinians” didn’t consider Egyptian and Jordanian rule to be “occupation.” Only Israeli rule is “occupation.” The hypocrisy of the entire “Palestinian” cause is as palpable as its dishonesty

A great article, where the comments section is as informative as the article itself
In the desert ?
Why not move Israel there ?They know how to look for Lebensraum

Why should 'Palestinians divest arms and missiles' ?And the occupier keeps his nuclear arsenal ?
After this mass killing in Gaza , is there ANY reason NOT to fight with all means against the murderers ?
In terms of losses in human lives, 2014 has been a horrific year for Palestinians, surpassing the horrors of both 2008 and 2009, when an Israeli war against the Gaza Strip killed and wounded thousands.

While some aspects of the conflict are stagnating between a corrupt, ineffectual Palestinian Authority and the criminality of Israeli wars and occupation, it would also be fair to argue that 2014 was also a game-changer to some degree - and it is not all bad news.

To an extent, 2014 has been a year of clarity for those keen to understand the reality of the "Palestinian-Israeli conflict" but were
sincerely confused by the contrasting narratives. Here are five reasons that support the argument that things are changing.

Islam’s disturbing legacy of slavery | Freethought Nation

“Slavery is a part of Islam… Slavery is part of jihad, and jihad will remain as long there is Islam… [Those who argue that slavery has been abolished are] ignorant, not scholars. They are merely writers. Whoever says such things is an infidel.”
Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan, member of Senior Council of Clerics, Saudi Arabia’s highest religious body (2003)

When asked about the essence of the Shari'a, I mention three key elements: Muslim superiority over non-Muslims, male superiority over females, and the legitimacy of violence to extend Islam's sway. Huwaini's "I go to the market and pick whichever female I desire and buy her" vividly and memorably illustrates all three elements. June 11, 2011 update: The website TranslatingJihad.com provides a condensed transcript of this statement at "Video: Shaykh al-Huwayni: 'When I want a sex slave, I just go to the market and choose the woman I like and purchase her'."

Mike, you need to stop reacting to and propagating the statements of individual extremists as definitive of the ideas and behaviors of billions of people.

"So conflict is not good vs. evil, black vs. white;

conflict is like a piano, with black and white keys intermixed.
Yet, because war cannot distinguish between black and white,
war cannot play this piano.
And because war adds to the injustices, deprivations, and psychological scars
that aggravate aggressive and defensive roots of violence,
war, as a tool against cruelty and injustice,
is ineffective."

It's easy sitting behind a desk condemning Israel which is surrounded by Arab states and it has right to defend its people and homeland. The same with other states but give the bleeding hearts when the radicals fire rockets into civilians and don't expet retaliation!

Watch this........

This is what "normal" moslems think, something most westerners "fail" to understand
Nothing too shocking here for this average bunch of Sunnis. Let's transport ourselves to a bunch of guys at the local strip club and ask, how many of you average, western men think homosexuality is wrong, that they should be stoned or beaten and killed? How many western men believe it is ok to rape women or not pay child support after they lose custody of the kids? I think this kind of patriarchy is the same the world over and that asking these questions with any male cohort will produce similar results. Well, unless you are in Northern Europe where modern men are into cooking, child rearing and solving math problems.

Yeah right
cooking = chinese phone in
child rearing = watching the footy together on tv.
solving maths problems = paying the bills and green tax's, and still having enough to eat.

Where abouts in northern Europe is it you come from again.
