Why do i feel like ive just dropped a bag of dog poo on the doorstep, lit it and run.......

And my usual rant

I just heard this week , The australian govt's carbon tax initiative has already failed on two fronts.
One the cost of the certificates pegged at 26 bucks a ton here for which consumers have been paying, and the govt compensating were destroyed last week

carbon prices dropped by around 40 percent to 2.63 euros (A$3.20) a tonne. They were later trading at 3.15 euros (A$4.00), down 33.4 percent.

And it turns out that natural gas which was expected to be embraced by the coal fired electricity industry, is being sold to them at export rates, as such its still cheaper to burn coal, so ........no changeover to NG

If the govt really wanted to address carbon emissions, it could have said by 2020 you must convert to gas, and we will give you a discount on it (we have massive reserves of it).
Instead we are digging up and burning/exporting more coal than ever before

Black coal is Australia’s second-highest export commodity and Australia is the world’s leading coal exporter.
Over the past 10 years black coal exports have increased by more than 50%.
Japan takes 39.3% of Australia’s black coal exports – the largest share, with a total of 115.3 million tonnes exported last financial year.
China is our second largest market with 42.4 million tonnes in 2009-2010, almost double the previous year.
The Republic of Korea accounts for 40.7 million tonnes, India for 31.92 million tonnes and Taiwan for 26.53 million tonnes, rounding out the top five destinations for coal from Australia.
Together these five countries accounted for 88% of all black coal exports with a further 28 countries taking the remaining 12%.
Demand for coal in China and India is expected to increase dramatically over the next decade in line with these countries’ projected need for coal for energy and manufacturing.
Australia was the only one of the world’s 33 advanced economies to grow in 2009 during the worst global recession since the Great Depression.
The principal reason for this was our continued coal exports. The importance of coal in the economy is also evident in its growing share of Gross Domestic Product.
This share has more than doubled, from 1.7 % in 2006-07 to 3.5 % in 2008-09, making it the largest contributor to the mining sector.
In 2011, Australia’s thermal coal exports grew by four %, relative to 2010, to total 148 million tonnes. Projections for 2012 see an increase of 10% in 2012 to 162 million tonnes, then growing at an average annual rate of 11 % between 2013 and 2017, to total 271 million tonnes by the end of the period.
Australia’s exports of metallurgical coal are forecast to increase at an average annual rate of eight %, reaching 218 million tonnes in 2017, with total earnings forecast at $40 billion in current Australian dollars.

But of course we should all pay more for electricity since it burns that nasty coal, The consumer pays more, the planet gets even more pollution.

Someone is having a bet both ways, and reaping a fortune on the double win.

The contempt this "the stupid public will never see the contradiction" attitude carrys is stagering.
They say "we must do something about carbon emissions" you must pay more that will solve it, and at the same time pollute more than ever before.
Its a scam.

The carbon tax will actually see Australia’s carbon emmisions INCREASE by 2020!

Perhaps the most shocking thing about the carbon tax proposal is that under the Government’s own figures, not only will it fail to deliver the paltry target of a 5% cut in emissions it's worse than that, under the Governments own Treasury modeling there will be an increase in national emissions from 582 million tonnes of carbon now, to 621 million tonnes in 2020.
The claimed 5% reduction is going to be “achieved” by the purchase of “carbon credits” generated through various dubious projects internationally, as well as by emissions-reducing changes in Australian agricultural industries. It is a shocking case of disinformation by the ALP, Greens, Environment groups and the media to neglect to explain this fact to the Australian public. The supposed benefits of the scheme therefore are not a reduction in real terms but a reduction compared to “business as usual” ie. if we did nothing.
To put the almost comical inadequateness of this policy in context, one needs to only note that the IPCC (UN International Panel on Climate Change) in 2007 said that for global emissions to stabilize at 450ppm in the atmosphere(a level that many scientists think is very dangerous), developed or richer nations need to cut their emission by 25%-40% by 2020! Why is this fact not being discussed. Has the environment movement joined the climate denialist camp and abandoned the credibility of the IPCC?
The carbon tax will massively compensate polluting industries.

The carbon tax is being sold to the public under the line that its making the “polluters pay”! If only! Whilst 500 companies are being taxed, the fine print once again reveals that the biggest polluting industries far from being punished are being rewarded by this scheme. The scheme is putting aside a total of $9.2 billion dollars to compensate the biggest industrial polluters.
This includes the steel, aluminium, zinc, pulp and paper makers who will get free permits representing 94.5 per cent of industry average carbon costs. That’s right- the biggest polluters, supposedly on the grounds that they are “trade exposed”, are being allowed to pollute for free. So much for “free market” principles!

The carbon tax con: Why the ALP/Green carbon tax is a climate disaster | Indymedia Australia

We are part of the problem and we have to change our ways.

I couldnt agree more, but we are not doing it.

We we are doing is feeding the masses a placebo and saying give us your money its the only solution, whilst actually increasing our emissions

Until we recognise we are being scammed, there wont be any change, people will just shrug, swallow the placebo that increased energy prices are the solution and remain oblivious to whats really happening.

The audacity of this scam is staggering. The Aust govt loves to wax lyrical on the theme we must cut emissions, we need global solutions ie kyoto and other international summits. while digging up carbon it knows will be burned and exporting it in ever greater amounts.

We get the one planet, one solution mantra drummed into us, yet coal is sent to japan where its burnt. Technically they are not "our" carbon emissions, they are Japans and as such will be polluting the atmosphere of a planet other than the one we live on.

The Govts are doing NOTHING to curb emissions, simply using the situation to fleece the sheep.
The politicians primary thoughts are to their own wallets and political ambitions, the planet and emissions are just a handy platform to use, the environment gets nothing or rather it gets more...... more emissions every day. There will be no reductions in emissions because it means reduction in profits if we do.

Somehow oblivious to this, the world’s emissions of CO2 have continued to hurtle upward, by 50 per cent since 1990. Yet global temperatures have obstinately failed to rise. Attempts to get a global agreement on cutting CO2 emissions have collapsed. Pretty well every developed country, apart from Britain, is going flat out to build more fossil-fuelled power stations – leaving our own politicians almost alone in the world, with their fantasy that, by “decarbonising” our economy at unimaginable cost, we can still somehow give everyone else a lead in changing the earth’s climate.

Has there ever in history been such an almighty disconnect between observable reality and the delusions of a political class that is quite impervious to any rational discussion?

It is a classic example of HAARP weather modification. My guess it is to induce more flooding so more land can be taken via eminent domain and possibly to aid in betting on crop futures.

HAARP activity over the last couple days seems to explain the 10 inches of snow outside my house.
Screen shot 2013-05-02 at 7.57.14 AM.png

yay, 12 inches of global warming outside with up to 20 inches total global warming by morning. should be back to 70 on monday. This is weather modification via HAARP.

Global warming is also resulting in extreme weather - hence your snow.
nope... this is weather modification via HAARP.. or else global warming is causing the longwave frequency readings directly over the center of the USA the past few days.

I think it has something to for with increased water molecules/condensation in the air. Whatever names you want to give it the overall weather patterns have more condensation to play with so, more precipitation in the way of snow and rain.

While I was there I was reading the comments section, some of the acrimony there makes some of the disagreements here look pretty tame.

your first link says nothing about human caused CO2 emissions causing global warming.
your second link i will not even read because that site has been discredited long long ago as pure bullshit.

Another manipulated John Cook study.. it has already been exposed for tampering with the polling of opinions to arrive at this so called consensus. Move along folks, just another feeble attempt by a washed up cartoonist to get his 15 minutes of fame.
